4 BEFORE YOU BEGIN Thank you for selecting the WESLO ® CADENCE EX14 treadmill. The CADENCE EX14 combines advanced technology with innovative design to let you enjoy an excellent form of cardiovascular exercise in the conve- nience and privacy of your home.
ASSEMBL Y Assembly requires two people. Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. Do not dis pose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. Assembly requires the included allen wrench and your own phillips screwdriver and two adjustable wrenches .
6 2. Refer to HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE on page 1 1. Follow step 2 on page 1 1 to lower the tread- mill. Hold a Handrail (45) against the left Upright (46) as shown. Attach the Handrail with two black Handrail Bolts (65), two black Handrail W ashers (43), and two Handrail Star W ashers (44).
7 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PERFORMANT LUBE TM W ALKING BEL T Y our treadmill features a walking belt coated with PERFORMANT LUBE TM , a high-performance lubricant. IMPORT ANT : Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking plat- form.
8 DIAGRAM OF THE CONSOLE Clip Key Speed Control Monitor Display On/Reset Button BA TTERY INST ALLA TION The console requires two "AA" batteries (not includ- ed). Alkaline batteries are recommended. T o install batteries, open the battery cover as shown at the right.
9 Insert the key fully into the power switch. Inserting the key will not turn on the dis- play . The display will turn on when the On/Reset button is pressed or when the walking belt is start- ed. If you just installed batteries, the display will already be on.
HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, unplug the power cord. CAUTION: Y ou must be able to safely lift 20 kg (45 lbs.) in order to raise, lower or move the treadmill. 1. Hold the treadmill with your hands in the locations shown at the right.
11 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand as shown. Using your left thumb, press the storage latch and hold it. Pivot the treadmill until the frame and foot rail are past the storage latch. 2. Hold the treadmill firmly with both hands, and lower the treadmill to the floor .
12 MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLE-SHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below . Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed.
13 PROBLEM: The walking belt is off-center or slips when walked on SOLUTION: a. If the walking belt has shifted to the left , first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD . Using the allen wrench, turn the left rear roller adjustment bolt clockwise, and the right bolt counter- clockwise, 1/4 of a turn each.
14 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES The following guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. For more detailed exercise informa- tion, obtain a reputable book or consult your physi- cian.
15 SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown in the drawings below . Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. T oe T ouch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
