5 W ar m Up Ex er cises NING! WARM UP FIRST ! Warming up prepares the body fo r e xercise by increasing ci rculation, supplying more oxygen to the muscles and raisi ng body temperature. Begin each work out with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise to warm up.
6 Assembl y Instr uctions Assembly The Smooth 5.3P treadmill is shipped in o ne piece to ma ke assembly easy. After opening the box, remove any packing materials from the treadmill. Do not throw away any packing materials until the unit is working properly.

10 PROGRAM MODE • Plug into a standard wall outlet (110-Volt AC, 15-amp circuit). • Attach RED Safety Key to treadmill console. • Stand on the treadmill and straddle bel t. • Press POWER button. Th ere will be an eight (8) s eco nd delay after pressing the POWER button before data can be entered.
11 Pr ogr am Profiles The Weight Loss Progra m is designed to alternate b etween the programmed speed and incline. The program will alternate b etween: 1) the full programmed incline and half the programmed speed, to 2) zero incline and the maximum prog rammed speed.
12 Belt Adjustment and T ension WARNING! Do not overtighten ro llers! This will cause premat ure roller bearing failure! Belt adjustment and tension performs two functions: adjustment fo r tension and centering. You r new treadmill comes pre-adjusted fr om t he factory for tension and centering.

14 T r oubleshooting Guide T readmill will not start. 1) Make sure the p ower cord is plugged into a surge p rotector, the surge protector is plugged into a properly grounded outle t, and the surge protector is turned on.
