4 BEFORE YOU BEGIN Congratulations for selecting the versatile new P ROFORM ® S TRIDE SELECT 830 elliptical exerciser . T he STRIDE SELECT 830 is an incredibly smooth exerciser that moves your feet in a natural elliptical path, minimizing the impact on your knees and ankles.
5 ASSEMBL Y T o hire an authorized service technician to assemble the elliptical exerciser , call toll-free 1-800- 445-2480. Assembly requires two persons. Place all parts of the elliptical exerciser in a cleared area and remove the packing materials.
6 1. I dentify the Rear Stabilizer (4). Whi le anot her pe rson lifts the rear of the Frame (1), attach the Rear Stabilizer to the Frame with two M10 x 75mm Carriage Bolts (34) and two M10 Nylon Locknuts (29). 4 34 29 29 1 2. See the inset drawing. Remove the two M10 x 45mm Button Bolts (33) and the packing tubes from the front of the Frame (1).
7 4 2 46 67 15 83 83 95 86 76 72 Hexagonal Holes 4. While another person holds the Upright (2) in the posi- tion shown, connect the Upper Wire Harness (86) to the Extension Wire Harness (95). Next, insert the Upright (2) into the Mast (15); make sure that the Upright is oriented as shown .
8 7. Slide the Right Crank Arm (38) onto the four indicated welded bolts; make sure that the Right Crank Arm is in the indicated cutout in the Left Pedal Disc (8). Next, finger tighten four M8 Jamnuts (101) onto the welded bolts. Then, fully tighten one of the Jamnuts, and then tighten the Jamnut farthest from the first Jamnut.
9 10. Identify the Left Handlebar (9), which is marked with a st icke r . Insert the Left Handlebar into one of the Handlebar Legs (79); make sure that the Handlebar Leg is turned so the hexagonal holes are on the indicated side . Attach the Left Handlebar with two M8 x 45mm Button Bolts (50) and two M8 Nylon Locknuts (46).
10 13. Make sure that all parts of the elliptical exerciser are properly tightened. Note: Some hardware may be left over after assembly is completed. T o protect the floor or carpet from damage, place a mat under the ellip- tical exerciser . 12 14 12.
1 1 HOW T O USE THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISER HOW TO EXERCISE ON THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISER T o mount the elliptical exerciser , hold the handgrip p ulse sensor and step onto the pedal that is in the low- est position. Next, step onto the other pedal. Push the pedals until they begin to move with a continuous motion.
12 FEA TURES OF THE CONSOLE This advanced console offers a selection of features designed to make your workouts more effective. When you use the manual mode of the console, you can change the resistance of the pedals with the touch of a button. As you pedal, the console will provide continu - ous exercise feedback.
13 H OW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE T urn on the console. T o turn on the console, press the Increase button or begin pedal ing. The pace guide will light for a moment; the console will then be ready for use. Select the manual mode. When you turn on the console, the manual mode will be selected.
14 H OW TO USE A HEART RA TE PROGRAM T urn on the console. See step 1 on page 13. Select a heart rate program. T o select a heart rate program, press the Program button repeatedly until the number 1 or 2 appears along the left side of the display . When you select a heart rate pro- gram, the target heart rate setting will flash in the display .
15 H OW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM T urn on the console. See step 1 on page 13. Select a preset program. T o select a preset program, press the Program but- ton repeatedly until the number 3 or 4 appears along the left side of the display . When you select a preset program, the display will show the length of the program.
16 H OW TO USE A CALORIE GOAL PROGRAM T urn on the console. See step 1 on page 13. Select a calorie goal program. Press the Programs button repeatedly until the number 5 or 6 appears along the left side of the dis- play . When a calorie goal program is selected, the number of calories to be burned will appear in the display .
17 Inspect and tighten all parts of the elliptical exerciser regularly . Replace any worn parts immediately . T o clean the elliptical exerciser , use a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. Important: T o avoid damage to the console, keep liquids away from the console and keep the console out of direct sunlight.
18 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES The following guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. Remember that proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results.
19 SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. M ove slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. T oe T ouch Stretch S tand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from y our hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
