3 Congratulations for selecting the new PROFORM ® GT 30 exercise cycle. Cycling is one of the most effective exercises for increasing cardiovascular fitness, building endurance, and toning the entire body .
4 ASSEMBL Y Assembly requires two persons. Place all parts of the exercise cycle in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. Assembly requires the included tools and your own adjustable wrench and Phillips screw- driver .
5 2. While another person lifts the back of the Frame (1) slightly , attach the Rear Stabilizer (30) to the Frame with two M10 x 75mm Carriage Bolts (33) and two M10 Black Nylon Locknuts (34).
6 7. Attach the Seat (12) to the Seat Post (5) with four M8 Nylon Locknuts (10) and four M8 Black Split W ashers (42). Note: The Nylon Locknuts and Split W ashers may be preattached to the Seat. T urn the Seat Knob (28) counterclockwise two or three turns to loosen it (if the Seat Knob is not loosened enough, it may scratch the Seat Post [5]).
7 9. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the exercise cycle. Note: After assembly is completed, some extra parts may be left over . Place a mat beneath the exercise cycle to protect t he fl oor . 8. Identify the Left Pedal (24), which is marked with an “L.
8 HOW T O OPERA TE THE EXERCISE CYCLE HOW TO ADJUST THE SEA T For effective exer- cise, the seat should be at the proper height. As you pedal, there should be a slight bend in your knees when the pedals are in the lowest position.
9 On/Reset Button HOW TO USE THE CONSOLE T urn on the console. T o turn on the console, press the On/Reset button or begin pedaling. (See the drawing above to identify the On/Reset button.) Note: The console requires four 1.5V “D” batteries (see assembly step 4 on page 5).
10 Measure your heart rate if desired. If there are thin sheets of plas- tic on the metal contacts on the hand- grips, peel off the plastic. To use the hand- grip pulse sen- sor , hold the handgrips with your palms resting against the metal contacts. A void moving your hands.
Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the exercise cycle regularly . Replace any worn parts immediately . T o clean the exercise cycle, use a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. Important: T o avoid damage to the console, keep liquids away from the console and keep the console out of direct sunlight.
12 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES The following guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. Remember that proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results.
13 SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. T oe T ouch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
