page 9 COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS DIVISION Thank y ou for purchasing the Precor C956i or C954i treadmill. Built to the exacting standards of the health club en vironment, the treadmill is intended f or commercial use and can withstand the rigors of daily club use with little maintenance.

page 11 COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS DIVISION Y ou do not need any special knowledge or e xperience to set up the treadmill. Howe ver , because of its siz e and weight, y ou will need to obtain assistance. INST ALLA TION REQUIREMENTS F ollow these installation requirements when installing the treadmill.
page 12 COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS DIVISION Diagram 3 Lift the unit by grasping the hand holds inside the rear end caps. Lift the rear of the unit and roll it to its assembly location. Rear end cap 2. Make sure that the power s witch is OFF . Check the ON/OFF po wer s witch on the front of the treadmill.

With the supplied he x ke y and a ½-inch bo x end wrench, loosen and remo ve the tw o bolts and nuts on the left side of the front panel.

page 15 COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS DIVISION b . Route the displa y cable through the right upright suppor t. Ask an assistant to hold the upright suppor t close to the r ight side mounting brack et. Route the cable through the up r ight suppor t (see Diagram 9, #1) and pull it out of the large hole on the side of the suppor t near its base.
page 16 COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS DIVISION 8. Secure the right side upright support. Diagram 11. Obtain two long sock ethead scre ws (D), washers (E) and barrel spacers (F) from the Hardw are kit. Place a washer and barrel slee ve on each bolt and insert the fasteners through the side of the upright suppor t and into the base mounts.
page 17 COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS DIVISION Important : With the handrails attached, the width of the treadmill is 36.75 inches (93 cm). It will not fit through a standard 32-inch doorwa y . 11. Attach the handrails. Diagram 13 . For ease of assembly , place the side rails or adjustable rear f eet on b locks .

page 25 COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS DIVISION DETERMINING THE CLUB SPEED LIMIT Y ou can set the maximum speed f or the treadmill. This limits how f ast the running belt mov es and, consequently , how man y adjustments a user can make to the treadmill’ s speed.
page 26 COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS DIVISION REMOVING OR PROVIDING A FITNESS TEST The Fitness T est is “disab led” at the f actor y , so if you wish to add the option to the user’ s choice of prog rams, y ou need to “enable” the Fitness T est. Important : On the C956i, the Fitness T est takes the place of Custom Prog ram 2.

page 28 COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS DIVISION USING CSAFE ST ANDARD EQUIPMENT The C956i and C954i are fully compatible with CSAFE protocols . If the unit is connected to a CSAFE master de vice, the user will be prompted to enter a user ID . Fiv e zeros appear on the displa y .

Distance can appear in miles or kilometers. If you wish to change the displa y , f ollow the instructions f ound in Club Inf or mation .
page 32 COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS DIVISION KEYS ON THE DISPLA Y CONSOLE The Precor treadmills hav e an easy-to-use k eypad that is activ ated b y the slightest touch. Remind users that they only need to apply gentle pressure to the ke ypad. Each ke y on the k eypad pro vides specific functions.
page 33 COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS DIVISION Numeric Ke ys (1 - 0): During a workout, y ou can use the numeric ke ys to change the treadmill’ s speed or incline (in whole numbers or increments). The range of speed (0.5 - 12 mph, 1 - 20 kph) can be set by the club , so there may be limits .
page 34 COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS DIVISION Important : As a saf ety f eature, a sharp tug on the security cord that is attached to the ST OP b utton will cause the running belt to stop. It is a requirement that a user attach the security clip on his or her clothing while working out.

There are no complex instruc- tions to f ollow or mandatory programming steps required to operate the treadmill. The easy-to-understand prompts let you select a prog ram and specify how long you w ant to work out.

page 43 COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS DIVISION MANUAL MODE AND THE QUICKST ART KEY Manual mode (C956i and C954i) lets y ou control the incline and r unning belt speed which aff ects the effort you put into your w orkout. As with other programs, when you complete the time limit set f or the prog ram, the automatic cool-do wn period begins.
