1. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all users of this treadmill are adequately informed of all warnings and precautions. 2. Use the treadmill only as described. 3. Place the treadmill on a level surface, with at least eight feet of clearance behind it and two feet on each side.
22. When using iFIT.com CDs and videos, an electronic “chirping” sound will alert you when the speed and/or incline of the treadmill is about to change. Always listen for the “chirp” and be prepared for speed and/or in - cline changes. In some instances, the speed and/or incline may change before the per- sonal trainer describes the change.
Thank you for selecting the revolutionary NordicTrack ® C2420 treadmill. The C2420 treadmill offers a selec - tion of features designed to make your workouts at home more enjoyable and effective. A nd when you’re not exercising, the unique C2420 trea dmill can be folded up, requiring less than half the floor space of other treadmills.
ASSEMBL Y Assembly requires two persons. Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. Note: The underside of the treadmill walking belt is coated with high-performance lubricant.
7 2. With the help of a second person, carefully tip the Frame (55) and the Uprights (85) down to the position shown. Make sure that the Base Extensions (90) remains in place.
8 If you have purchased an optional chest pulse sensor, follow step 6 to install the receiver included with the chest pulse s ensor. If you have not, go to step 7. 6. Place the console assembly face-down. Be careful not to scratch the face of the console.
9 10. Press the right Upright Cover (75) onto the right Upright (85). Attach the Upright Cover with a 3/4” Screw (7). Repeat this step on the other side (not shown). 85 75 7 9. Slide the two Upright Covers (75) onto the ends of the Handrails (68, 70).
10 11. Remove the knob from the pin. Make sure that the collar and the spring are on the pin. Press the Latch Insert (77) into the left Upright (85) as shown. Use a rubber mallet if necessary. Insert t he pin through the Latch Insert. Tighten the knob back onto the pin.
1 1 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- icone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
12 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive and enjo yable. When the manual mode of the con- sole is selected, the speed and i ncline o f the t readmill can be changed with the touch of a butt on.
13 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER Plug in the power cord (see page 11). Locate the reset /off circuit breaker near the power cord. Make sure that the circuit breaker is in the reset position.
Adjust the cushioning system as desired. The treadmill features a cushioning system that reduces the impact as you walk or run on the treadmill. There are fif - teen firmness levels. To increase the firmness of the walking platform, turn the Active Response Cushioning knob coun- terclockwise.
15 To again see the distance that you have walked or run during your workout, press the Odometer but- ton again. To reset the display, press the Stop button, re - move the key, and then reinsert the key.
16 HOW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 13. Identify yourself as user A, B, C, or D. See step 2 on page 13.
17 If the speed and/or incline settings of the program are too high or too low, you can change the inten- sity level of the program at any time by turning the Program Intensity dial. If you wish to save the new intensity level of the program for future workouts, press the Save button.

Turn on the fans if desired. See step 9 on page 15. When you are finished exercising, remove the key from the console.
21 The target heart rate setting for the first seg- ment will be shown in the flashing Current Segment column of the matrix. The target heart rate settings for the next twe lve segm ents will be shown in the columns to the right. If heart rate program 4 is selected, the target heart rate setting will not be shown in the matrix.
22 HOW TO CONNECT THE TREADMILL TO USE IFIT.COM PROGRAMS To use iFIT.com MP3 or CD programs , the treadmill must be connected to your MP3 player, CD player, portable stereo, home stereo, or computer. See pages 22 and 23 for connecting instructions. To use iFIT.
23 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR HOME STEREO Note: If your stereo has an unused LINE OUT jack, see instruction A below. If the LINE OUT jack is being used, see instruction B. A. Plug one end of a long 1/8” to RCA stereo audio cable (available at electronics stores) into the input jack on the console.
24 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR VCR Note: If your VCR has an unused AUDIO OUT jack, see instruction A below. If the AUDIO OUT jack is being used, see instruction B. If you have a TV with a built-in VCR, see instruction B. If your VCR is connected to your home stereo, see HOW TO CONNECT YOUR HOME STEREO on page 23.

See www.iFIT.com for details. To use programs from our Web site, the treadmill must be connected to your home computer.
27 THE INFORMATION MODE/DEMO MODE The console features an information mode that keeps track of the total number of hours that the treadmill has been used and the total number of miles that the walk - ing belt has moved.
28 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If this is not done, the treadmill may be per- manently damaged. Remove the key and unplug the power cord.
29 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand as shown. Using your left hand, pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Pivot the treadmill down until the frame is past the pin on the latch knob. 2.
TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a.
Locate the Reed Switch (22) and the Magnet (18) on the left side of the Pulley (17). Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch. Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1/8”. If necessary, use a slotted screwdriver to move the Reed Switch slightly.
32 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES The following guidelines will help you to plan your ex- ercise program. For more detailed exercise informa- tion, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician.
33 SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
