And when youʼre not exercising, the unique TRA IN ER 550 treadmill can be f olded up, requiring less than half the floor space of other treadmills.
ASSEMBL Y To hire an authorized service technician to assemble the treadmill, call 1-800-445-2480. Assembly re- q uires two persons. Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove the packing materials; do not dispose of th e pack ing m ater ial s unti l ass embl y is co mpl eted .
7 3. Orient the Left Upright (31) as shown, and attach it to the Base (48) with two 3/8" x 2 1/4" Bolts (40) and two 3/8" Star Washers (7); do not fully tighten the Bolts yet. 48 31 7 7 40 Latch Holes 3 2. Orient the Base (48) as shown.

9 7 . See the left inset drawing. Identify the outer side of the remaining Frame Spacer (34). Hold the Frame Spacer (34) between the Left Upright (31) and the Lift Frame (59), with the outer side of the Frame Spacer facing the L eft Upright.
10 28 18 9. While another person holds the Console Base (26) near the right Handrail (18), attach the ground wire on the Console Base to the right H andrail with a #8 x 1/2" Ground Screw (11). C onnect the wire harness on the Console Base (26) to the Upright Wire (28).
14. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill. Note: Extra hardware may be included. Keep the included hex keys in a secure place; the large hex key is used to adjust the walking belt (see page 24). To protect the floor or carpet, place a mat under the treadmill.
12 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT T HE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- i cone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers a selection of features designed to make your workouts more effective. When the manual mode of the console is selected, the speed and inc line of t he trea dmill c an be cha nged wi th the touch of a button.
HOW TO TU RN ON THE P OWER IMPORTANT: If the treadmill has been exposed to c old temperatures, allow it to warm to room tem- perature before turning on the power. If you do not d o this, the console displays or other electrical components may become damaged.

20 THE INF ORMAT ION MOD E The console features an information mode that keeps t rack of treadmill usage information. The information mode also allows you to select miles or kilometers as t he unit of measurement and to turn on and turn off the demo mode.
21 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the l owest position. If you do not do this, you may damage the treadmill when you fold it. Next, unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 lbs.
22 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1 . Hold the treadmill with your right hand as shown. Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Pivot the frame down until it is past the latch pin. 2. Hold the metal frame firmly with both hands , and lower it to the floor.
TROUBLESHOOTING M ost treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, please see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a.
24 Locate the Reed Switch (62) and the Magnet (67) on the left side of the Pulley (64). Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch. Make s ure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1/8 in. (3 mm). If necessary, l oosen the Screw (11), move the Reed Switch slightly, and then retighten the Screw.

26 SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
