3 IMPORT ANT PRECAUTIONS 1. Before beginning any exercise program, con- sult your physician. This is especially impor- tant for persons over age 35 or persons with pre-existing health problems. 2. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all users of this treadmill are adequately informed of all warnings and precautions.
4 20. Never leave the treadmill unattended while it is running. Always remove the key , unplug the power cord, and press the power switch into the off position when the treadmill is not in use. (See the drawing on page 5 for the location of the power switch.
5 Thank you for selecting the new GOLD’S GYM ® CROSSW ALK 570 treadmill. The CROSSW ALK 570 treadmill provides an impressive selection of features designed to make your workouts at home more effec- tive and enjoyable. For your benefit, read this manual carefully before you use the treadmill.
6 P ART IDENTIFICA TION CHART Use the drawings below to identify small parts used for assembly . The number in parentheses below each draw- ing is the key number of the part, from the P ART LIST near the end of this manual. The number following the key number is the quantity used for assembly .
7 ASSEMBL Y • Assembly requires two persons. • Place all parts in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materialsuntilyounishallassemblysteps. • The underside of the walking belt is coated with high-performance lubricant.
8 2. Identify the Left Upright (75), which is marked “Left.” Have a second person hold the Left Upright near the Base (80). See the inset drawing. Tie the wire tie in the Left Upright (75) securely around the end of the Upright Wire (70).
9 4. Identify the Left Handrail (71), which is marked “Left.” Remove the tie from the 5/16" Cage Nut (33). If necessary, press the Cage Nut back into place. Hold the Left Handrail (71) near the Left Upright (75). Insert the Upright Wire (70) through the bracket on the bottom of the Left Handrail.
10 7 . Insert the Upright Wire (70) into the Left Upright (75) as you set the console assembly on the Left Handrail (71) and the Right Handrail (72). Make sure that no wires are pinched. Attach the console assembly to the Left and Right Handrails (71, 72) with two 5/16 " x 1" Bolts (7) and two 5/16 " Star Washers (8) .
11 8 . Attach the console assembly to the Left Handrail Tube (99) and the Right Handrail Tube (98) with four #8 x 3/4" Screws (6) ; start all four Screws, and then tighten them. Do not overtighten the Screws. 99 98 6 8 Console Assembly 6 9 . Identify the Left Tray (87) and the Right Tray (88).
12 10. Attach the two Resistance Assemblies (54) to the Uprights (75, 76) with four 1/4" x 4 1/2" Screws (10), four 1/4" Flat Washers (11), and four 3/8" Star Washers (5) as shown. Do not overtighten the Screws. Fully tighten the six 3/8" x 3 1/2" Screws (4) (only one side is shown).
13 13. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill. If there are sheets of plas- tic on the treadmill decals, remove the plastic . Toprotecttheoororcarpet,placeamatunderthetreadmill.
14 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT HOW TO CONNECT THE POWER CORD Use a Surge Suppressor Y our treadmill, like other electronic equipment, can be damaged by sudden voltage changes in your home’s power . V oltage surges, spikes, and noise interfer- ence can result from weather conditions or from other appliances being turned on or off.
15 CONSOLE DIAGRAM ETGT59610 (GGTL59610 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive and enjoyable. When the manual mode of the console is selected, you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button.
16 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORTANT: If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures, allow it to warm to room tem- perature before turning on the power. If you do not do this, you may damage the console displays or other electrical components.
17 4. Change the incline of the treadmill as desired. To change the incline of the treadmill, press the Incline increase and decrease buttons or one of the numbered Quick Incline buttons. Each time you press the incline increase or decrease button, the incline will change by 0.
18 HOW TO USE A WEIGHT-LOSS WORKOUT 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 16. 2. Select a time for the workout. Toselectaweight-lossworkout,rstpressoneof the Set T ime buttons. The duration of the workout will appear in the T ime/Distance display .
19 HOW TO USE AN IFIT WORKOUT To purchase iFit cards at any time, go to www.iFit.com or call the telephone number on the front cover of this manual. iFit cards are also available at select stores. 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 16.
20 THE INFORMATION MODE The console features an information mode that keeps track of the total number of hours that the treadmill has been used and the total distance that the walking belt has moved. The information mode also allows you to select miles or kilometers as the unit of measurement.
21 HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL To avoid damaging the treadmill, a djust the incline to the lowest position before you fold the treadmill. Then, remove the key and unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 lbs. (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill.
22 Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the simple steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assis- tance is needed, see the front cover of this manual.
23 Lower the treadmill (see HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE on page 21). Remove the three #8 x 3/4" Screws (6). Carefully slide the Motor Hood (57) off. Locate the Reed Switch (95) and the Magnet (44) on the left side of the Pulley (43). Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch.
24 SYMPTOM: The walking belt is off-center or slips when walked on a. If the walking belt is off-center, rstremovethe key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD.
