3-22 3. I mproper temperature control 4. Computer-relat ed problems 5. Filtration proble ms 6. Leakag e problems The probable causes of each category are discussed in the following sections. A series of Trouble- shooting Guides (decision trees) is also included at t he end of the chapter to assist i n identifying some of the more common problems.
3-23 operate correctly , but when the unit is again closed up and placed back into service the module heats up and fails. PROBLEM S RELATED TO T HE GAS VA LVE I f the problem is not in the 24VAC c ircuit, it is most like ly in the gas valve itself, but be fore r eplac- ing the g as valve r efer to TROUBLE SHOO TING T HE GAS VA LVE .
3-24 Check for proper operation by disconnecting the wire from the ignitor ( spark plug ), inserting the tip of a scre w driver into the te rminal, and holding it near the frame of the fry er as the power switch is placed in the ON position. A strong, blue spark should be generated for at least 4 seconds.
3-25 I mproper temperature control probl ems can be categorized into m elt cy cle problems and failure t o control at setpoint problems. MELT CYCLE PROBLEM S The melt cy cle is automatically initiated by the controller (Analog , M100B, or M2000) when the controller is first turned on.
3-26 Whenever the complaint is “the pump is running, but no oil is being filtered,” check the installation of the filter paper, including that the correct size is be ing used. While y ou are che cking the filter pa - per, verify that the O-ring on the bottom of the filter pan is present and in good condition.
3-27 I mproperly sized or installed pape r will also allow food particles a nd sediment to pass through and clog the suction tube on the bottom of the filter carri age. Particles larg e e nough to block the suction tube may indicate that the cr umb tray is not being used.
3-28 oil/shortening to dr ain bac k to the f ilter pa n when the filter sy stem is turned off, e liminating the need for most heated oil return components. Operation of the redesigned FP - III s ys t e m i s t h e s a m e a s f o r t h e o ri g i n a l d es i g n .
