1 Start Here MFC-7360N MFC-7460DN Quick Setup Guide USA/CAN Version A Please read the Saf ety and Legal booklet first before yo u set up your mach ine. 2 CAUTION CAUTION When you move the machine , grasp the side h andholds that are under the scanner . DO NOT carry the machine by holding it at the bottom . Note • Keep a minimum gap arou nd the machine as show n in the illustration. • The components included in the box may differ depending on your country.
3 2 Remove the packing material from the machine a Remove th e packing tape from the ou tside of the machine and th e film covering the scanne r glass. b Open the front cover. c Remove the Silica Pack from the inside of the machine. CAUTION CAUTION DO NOT eat the Silica Pack.
4 g Gently shake it from side to side several times to distribute the toner evenly inside the assembly. h Put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in the machine. i Close the front cover of the machine. 3 Load paper in the paper tray a Pull the paper tray completely out of the machine.
5 c Fan the stack of paper well to avoid paper jams and misfeeds. d Put paper in the tray and make sure: The paper is below the maxim um paper mark ( bbb ) a . Over filling the paper tray will cause paper jams. The side to be pr inted on must be face down.
6 4 Connect the power cord and telephone line a Connect the AC power cord to the machine, and then plug it into an AC power outlet. b Turn on the mach ine’s power switch. c Connect the telephone line cor d. Connect one end of the telephone line cord to the jack on the machine marke d LINE and th e other end to a modular wall jack.
7 5 Choose your language (if needed) a Press Menu , 0 , 0 . b Press a or b to choose your language. Press OK . c Press Stop/Exit . Note If you are sharing one tele phone line with an external telephon e answeri ng machine, co nnect it as shown below.
8 6 Choose the correct Receive Mode The corre ct Receive Mo de is determ ined by the external devices and telephone subscr iber services (Voice Mail, Distinctive Ring, et c.) you have (or will be us ing) on the same line as the Brother machine. a Press Menu , 0 , 1 .
9 7 Set the LCD contrast (if needed) If you are having difficulty reading the LCD, try changing the contrast setting. a Press Menu , 1 , 5 . b Press c to increase the contrast.
10 9 Set your Station ID The machine displays the date and time, and if you set up the Station ID, it will add it to each fax you send. a Press Menu , 0 , 3 . b Enter your fax number (up to 20 digits) on the dial pad, and then pre ss OK . Station ID Fax: c Enter your tele phone number ( up to 20 digits) on the dial pad, and then pr ess OK .
11 10 Fax Transmission Report Your Brother machine is equipped with a Transmission Verification Report that can be used as confirmation that yo u sent a fax.
12 14 Automatic Daylight Savings Time You can set the machine to change autom atically for daylight savings time. It will reset itself forward one hour in the Spring and backward one hour in the Fall. a Press Menu , 0 , 2 , 2 . b Press a or b to choose On (or Off ).
