Set Up the Machine Unpac king the Machine Bef ore Setting Up the Machine ● Remov e all shipping t ape and packing material from the machine. ● When moving the machin e, g r ip the handles on both left and right sides of the machine and lift it carefully , as shown in the illustr ation right.

5 Install T oner Car tridg e 1 Remov e the toner car tridge from the bag. K eep the bag f or future use. CA UTION Do not open the drum protective shutter (A). 2 Gently rock the toner car tridge se ver al times to distribute toner inside. 3 Pull the seal completely out.
7 Set Up the P aper Cassette and Load P aper 1 Align the guides ( B) on the both edges of the paper cassette to the prot rusions (A) inside the machine.
9 8 Close the fron t panel of the paper casse tte. NO TE T o load Legal-siz e paper , leav e the front panel of paper cassette ope n and adjust the paper g uide rail (A) f or Legal-siz e paper . 9 Connect the e dge of dust co v er (A) and th e edge of paper cassette (B) .
11 Connect the P o wer Cor d and T urn On the Machine Connect T elephone Cables 12 Connect y our e xternal telephone to the e xternal de vice jac k (A) on bac k side of the machine if required. Connect the supplied telephon e cable to th e telephone line jac k (B) on bac k side of the machine and the w all jack.

15 Set the Machine for Sending Faxes Guidelines f or Entering Inf ormation The sender inf or mation y ou register in the machine appears in the header of e ach page receiv ed by y our recipient. NO TE Before sending a f ax, you MUST register your f ax number , unit na me, and the current date and time in the machine.

21 Set the Machine for Network Usage Connect the Machine to a Netw ork This machine has a USB connector and LAN connector . If the machine is conne cted to a network using a LAN cable , y ou can print the documents sent from a computer , send documents to a file server and se nd document attached to an e-mail through a ne twork.

29 Network Connection 12 If the MF46 00 Series CD-ROM Setup screen is not disp lay ed, click [star t] on the W indows task bar → [My Computer]. Windows Vista: click [star t] on the Windo ws task bar → [Computer]. Windo ws 98/Me/ 2000: doub le-click [My Computer ] on the Win dows desktop .
31 Confirming the installation Check if t he driver is installed successfully and if this machine has been set as def ault printer . NO TE When you opened the [printer] screen from an application , if this product was selected, it has been set up as default printer .
