Scanning 2-7 The scanner can be tilted up to 65 ° forward or back and ac hieve a successful decode ( Figure 2-5 ). Simple practice quickly shows what tolerances to work within.
LS4208 Product Reference G uide 2-8 Scanning in Hands-Free Mode The optional Intellistand ad ds greater flexibility to scan ning operation. When the scanner is seated in the stand’ s “cup,” the scanner’ s built-in sensor places the scanner in hands-free mode.

User Preference s 4-3 Introduction If desired, program the scanner to perform various functions, or activate differen t features. This chapter describes each user preference feature and provides the p rogramming bar codes necessary fo r selecting these features.

User Preference s 4-5 User Preferences Default Parameters The scanner can b e reset to two types of defa ults: factory defaults or cus tom defaults. Scan the appropriate bar code below to reset the scanner to its default settings and/or set the scanner’ s current settings as the custom defa ult.

User Preference s 4-7 Power Mode This parameter determin es whether or not power remains on after a decode attempt. When in reduced power mode, the scanner enters into a low power consumption mode to preserve batte ry life after each deco de a tte mpt.

User Preference s 4-9 Beep After Good Decode Scan a bar code below to select whether or not the scanner beep s after a good decode. If Do Not Beep After Good Decode is selected, the beeper still operates during parameter men u scanning and indicates error conditions.

Scan a bar code below to incre ase the delay when h osts require a slower transmission of data. Intra-Key stroke Delay When enabled, an additional dela y is inserted between each emulated key depression and release.

LS4208 Product Reference G uide 6-8 Baud Rate Baud rate is the number of bits of data transmitte d per second. Set the scanner's ba ud rate to match the baud rate setting of the host device. Otherwise, data may not reach the host device or may reach it in distorted form.
RS-232 Interfac e 6-9 Parity A parity check bit is the most significant bit of each ASCII co ded character . Select the parity type according to hos t device requirements. • Select Odd parity and the p arity bit value is set to 0 or 1, b ased on data, to ensure th at an odd number of 1 bits are contained in the coded character .
LS4208 Product Reference G uide 6-10 Stop Bit Select The stop bit(s) at the end of each transmitted character marks the en d of transmission of one character and prepares the receiv ing device for the next character in the serial data stream .
RS-232 Interfac e 6-11 Check Receive Errors Select whether or not the parity , framing, and overrun of received characters are che cked. The parity value of receiv ed charact ers is verified against the parity parameter selected above.

USB Interface 7-3 Introduction This chapter covers the co nnection and setup of the scanner to a USB host. The sca nner attaches directly to a USB host, or a po wered USB hub, and is powered by it. No additional power supp ly is required. Throughout the programming bar code men us, default values are indicated with asterisks ( * ).

USB Interface 7-5 USB Host Parameters USB Device T ype Select the desired USB device type. When changing USB Device T ypes, the scanner auto matically restarts.
