6 S ystem Requirements Macintosh The f ollowing table l ists the m inimum and high volum e recom mended s y stem setup to run RIP Software . System requirements vary accor ding to the s ize of the f iles to be pr inted, the o utput dev ice used, and o ther variables .
7 Supported Printers RCC for PC-12 : ColorCAMM P C-12 Window s 98/Windows Me I nstallation Important : : : : Before y ou install and set up the RIP program, you must be sure to install the PC-12 ColorCAMM Driver for Windows. Run Setup for the PC-12 ColorCA MM Driver for Windows.
8 8. Click Next . T he select Prin ter m odel window d isplays. 9. Select PPD ’s. The file is located in the C :Program FilesRCC for PC-12PPD f older. Select th e PPD according to the m odel of your printer . 10. Click OK . 11. Click Next . The Pr inter Inform ation W indow displa ys.
9 7. Click Next . T he select Progr am Folder displa ys. 8. Select th e folder you would l ike Roland C olorCho ice to displa y in. 9. Click Next . The Des tination Location window displa ys. 10. Select th e destinatio n by clic king on Bro wse or exc ept the default locatio n.
10 Uninstalling the Soft ware [Windows 98/Me] 1. Exit the RC C for PC-12 Software by right cl icking on t he Roland Col orChoice ico n in the l ower right corner of your monitor and selec ting Ex it. 2. Click Start>Settin gs>Contr ol Panel. 3. In the Contr ol Pane l, double-c lick the Add/Rem ove Program s icon.
11 Macintosh Installation 1. Insert the Roland Co lorChoic e Installa tion CD into your C D-ROM dri ve. 2. Double-c lick the Ins taller ico n. 3. Select th e Installer l anguage fr o m the Installer window. 4. Click OK . The s y s tem dis plays the I nstallation Options wind ow.
12 Uninstalling the Software [M acintosh] 1. Quit the R oland Co lorChoice S oftware. 2. Drag the RCC for P C-12 Folder into the T rash. 3. Open the System f older. 4. From the Preferenc es folder, drag th e files named ‘RCC f or PC-12 Preferenc es’ and ‘RCC for PC-12 Prefs ’ into the T rash.
13 Getting Started [Window s] The Rolan d ColorChoic e is autom aticall y launched eac h tim e you start your computer. Ho wever, you will need to view the Print Monitor in ord er to work w i th it.
14 Med ia —the media on which the job will be pr inted. File Type —the f ile type of the select ed job. To quit th e RIP Sof tware program when you are in W indows, right c lick on the icon, and th en select Q uit from the menu tha t appears.
15 Menus You ma y access a num ber of RIP Software’s functions using the m enus at the top of the m ain windo w. File Men u The File m enu allo ws the user to add a job, save a job as a diff erent form at, send, pause, or abort a job or stop the pr ocess b y exiting.
16 Select A ll The Sel ect All com mand se lects all f iles in the print queu e. Delete The Delet e comm and allows de letion of specific ally select ed files. Preferences Prefer ences allows ac cess to default setti ngs, incl uding what to d o with files after prin ting and to s pecify the units of measurem ent.
17 Setup Menu A setup c onsists of a d evice and its associat ed propert ies. Item s in the Set up menu appl y to the selec ted setup. Se lect a setup by click ing on the setu p icon i n the setup are a of the m ain windo w.
18 Printing Adding Jobs to the Pri nt Monitor The J obs Managem ent area of RIP Software a llows you to a dd jobs to th e Print Mon itor. To Add a J ob 1. From the F ile menu s elect A dd Jo b . 2. Select th e job you would lik e to add then c lick on Open .

20 Setup Properties The Setu p Properties window can b e accessed f rom wi thin R IP Soft ware Server a nd are setting s used to process jobs that do n ot have proper ties of their own ass ociated with t hem. Setup Pr operties c ontain setti ngs for a s pecific outpu t device.
21 Media Si ze Select a m edia si ze that is cur rentl y loaded into your printer. You can sp ecif y custom media s izes b y selec ting other fr om the list a nd then ed iting the Heig ht and W idth values. Me dia Size d isplays t he size of the media being use d, not the t otal printab le area.
22 The Setup Properti e s Pr i nt Tab Media This option allows the user to s elect the m edia t ype output will be printed on. ICC prof iles wil l automatic ally update t o the correct profile. Print Mode This option allows you to s elect the pr int qualit y for output.
23 Print White Colo r First W hen this option is c heck ed, the white co lor will be pr inted fir st using th e white ribbo n and then the process colors and spot colors will be printed. M irror Printing O rder W hen this option is c heck ed, the order of the ribbons will be inver ted.
24 Dither type This is displa y ed in variabl y when Print M ode is set to Angled Screen. Screen This becomes s ettable in an inter locking f ashion with the foregoing D ither t y pe item , and displ ays a dia log box for def ining a nati ve PostSc ript screen .

26 Speed Set the cut ting spe ed. Usuall y setti ng a lower s peed will res ult in lon ger cut tim es, but will produce higher qu alit y resul ts. Force This sets the cutting pressure. 27 Job Properties Job Pro perties can b e accessed f rom within RI P Soft ware and are sett ings ass ociated with a particular j ob. The J ob Properties com e fr om either the Pri nting Prop erties set in client, or the Setup Pr operties s et in RIP Software Server.
28 Copies Number You ma y change the num ber of c opies of the j ob to be out put. Spacing You ma y change the s pacing bet ween the cop ies that ar e output. Output at or igin- Selec t this opt ion to outp ut the job at the mac hine’s orig in on the edge of the m edia.

31 6. Next, fr o m the pop-up m enu, choos e Print & Export. 7. For Optio ns, selec t Use Print er's Default Screen. 8. Set Raster ization Res olution to around 100 to 300 dpi. If you are g oing to perf orm enlar ged printin g with Roland C olorChoic e, set this t o an even larger val ue.
32 12. From Color Managem ent select OFF . 13. Click OK to Color Mana gement S y stem Prefer ences. Click OK to Preferences . 14. Go to File >Print. 15. From the P PD menu, selec t the PPD for your printer. 16. Click the Paper butt on. From the Size m enu, select your paper si ze.

35 CorelDR AW 8 [Windows] Setting up the palett e 1. Copy a file 'us erinks .cpl', located i n the ‘SpotCo lorLibrar yColorCAMM PC- 12CorelDra w8’ folder of the Installat ion CD to the f ollowing f older to ov erwrite the sam e file ‘CorelGraph ics8Custom Palettes’.
36 9. Click [OK]. * For Core lDRAW 9, registered c olor names are stored in Custom Palettes. T o specif y a spot c olor to be set fr o m the next tim e, use Custom Palettes to m ake the selecti on.

39 4. Go to App le menu and s elect Choos er. Highli ght Adobe P S and m ake sure Color CAMM PC-12 RIP@... is selec ted. 5. In Illustrat or, go to F ile>Doc ument Setup. F rom the shor tcut menu, c hoose T ransparency. 6. The Q uality/Speed s lider s hould norm ally be lef t at the ce nter position.
40 8. Go to File >Prefer ences>Gener al. Click the ‘CMS Set up...’ butto n. 9. From Color Managem ent select OFF . 10. Click OK to Color Mana gement S y stem Prefer ences. Click OK to Preferences . 11. Go to File >Print. 12. From the P PD menu, selec t the PPD for your printer.
41 QuarkXPress 3.32 [ Macintosh] 1. Quark XPress requires a Prin ter Descrip tion File ( PDF) to ac cess spec ific options of the print er. Instal l the file ‘R oland Color CAMM PDF’ from Setup CD>Quark Files to the ‘Quark XPress:PDF ’ folder, bef ore starting Q uarkX Press.
42 10. Select Cus tom Page Def ault from the pop-up m enu, if a c ustom page s ize is r equired, and enter your custom page size. Clic k the Add button when you are finis h ed, and then clic k OK . Y ou are r eturned to the Output tab of the Print dialog.

44 5. To m ake a cutting line, select “C utContour” as t he color f or the paths that you wou ld like to c ut. Trans parency and ef fects s uch as Blur or Drop Shado ws are not ap plied at al l to cutting lines. T he cutting l ine ma y be pr inted.

This section provi des details about cas es where l imitations occ ur and des cribes work arounds.
47 5. Go to "A dvanced Pri nting Proc edures" e arlier in th is docum ent and follo w the proced ures under "Illustrat or 9.0" to m ake other sett ings. 6. Perform output with Il lustrator 9.0 . Carry out only printing , without perform ing cutting.
