7 IN S TALLI NG A BACKUP BATTE RY If AC po wer fails or you unpl ug th e T AD, a 9V backup battery (not su ppli e d) saves t he message groups , message coun t s, and t he settings for the day , time, and s e curity code. W e recommend you use an alkaline battery , s uch as R a- dioS hack Cat.
8 1. Hold down TIM E SET until a number fro m 1 – 7 (the day of the week) ap- pears and the T AD a nnounces the curr ently set day. 2. T o change the day of the week, re- peatedly press REPEA T to m ov e backward or SKIP to m ov e f or wa rd until the T AD announ ces the desired day o f the wee k.
9 1. T o record the OGM 1 (or OGM 2) mess age, hold down OGM 1 (or OGM 2 ) unt il th e T A D b eeps a nd the timer st art s count ing. Note: As soon a s the T AD beeps, release OGM 1 (or OGM 2 ) quickly . O the rwi se , the T A D re co rd s a “p o p” soun d at the begi nning of the outg o- ing m essage.
10 BASIC O PERATION SETTI NG T HE T AD TO ANSWER CALLS After you have recorded a n ou t going message, you can set the T A D to an- swer cal ls. T o set the T AD to answer calls, press ANSWER . The annou ncement number ( A1 or A2 ) appears, then the T AD plays the outgoing message and shows t he number of recorded mes sages .
11 Notes: • The m aximum recordi ng capacity is 48 m inutes or 59 m essages. • Many local phon e companies u s e calling party control (CPC) to signal that t he caller has h ung up.
12 After all mes s ages play , t he T AD says, “End of messages.” T o replay a message during pl ayback, press REPEA T . The current message starts aga in from the beginning . T o return to a previous m essage, ho ld down REPEA T un til you see the des ired messag e numbe r .
13 RECORDING A MEMO A m emo is a message you can record at the T AD for yourself or others. Y ou can record memos of up to 60 seco nds long in an y of t he mailboxes. Memo s ar e s t ored wit h i ncomi ng me s- sage s , and are replayed t he same w ay (see “P laying M essages ” on Page 1 1).
14 USING CALL BREAKTHROUG H If you screen your calls but want to know when calls come in fr om certain people, give them your call breakth r ough (CB T) code. When a ca ll er enters the CBT code dur- ing the outgoing message, the T AD alerts you with a series of loud beeps f or 35 second s.
15 REMOTE OPERAT ION W hil e you are away from y our home or office, you can us e a touch-tone phone or a pulse (rotary) phone with a pocket tone dialer to enter your remote opera- tion security code .

17 T ROUBLES HOO TING We do not ex pect you t o have any problems with your T AD-795, but if you do, tr y these sugge stions. If the T AD still doe s not operate properly , try rese tting it (see “R esetting the T AD ”) or take it to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
