5 The Browser Zone is the a rea where to navigate and organize files sto r ed on a lo c al, external, or network hard disk. The Browser zo n e is divided int o panels.
6 File / Searc h Results Pa ne l (2) VirtualDJ provi des several e lem en ts of informati on about each track. T he informati o n is a combination of ID3 Tag and VirtualDJ defined data fields.
7 VirtualDJ supports ID3 tagging of M P3 a udio f iles and MP4 and M O V tagging of video files. VirtualDJ has always provided the fast s information access a b out one‘s collection by usi ng Virt ualDJ‘s d atabase. Adding d ir ect tag access to every file considerably slows the applicati o ns ability for timely browsing and searching.

11 VirtualDJ‘s inter f ace p rovi d es access to two virtual ―decks‖. To load a t rack to a de c k, drag and drop f il es into e ac h of the d ecks spinnin g virtu al platters . The two decks ar e e quipped wi th the following controls and displays: 1.
12 4. Waveform display for curre ntl y - This vie w sh ows the visual waveform of the entire t rack , allows for viewing t h e remainin g d ur a tio n of the audio, as well as what h as already been played.
13 9. Pitch sli de r / Pitch butt ons Controls the s peed/pitc h of the tra ck when m oving the slid er. Moving it downw ard the spee d of the music spe eds up. By movi n g upward th e spee d slows down. Th e ―Zero‖ b utton lets you smoothly bring the pitch back to 100 %.
14 VirtualDJ featur e s an internal mix er se c tio n as part o f the Mi xer panel. It can be us ed j u st lik e a regular DJ mixer. The controls on the mixer i n clude: 1. 16 Above the p layers , a window p os ts curves corres p o nding to the tw o rates/rhyt hms of the music. These curves are r e presen ted in a w a veform , allowing you to see yo ur m usic. The p e aks in th e c urve represent beats. In orde r to syn c hronize the musi c, these peaks should occur at the same time.
17 VirtualDJ fe a tures a powerful sampler, which pro vides the a bility to record, load, and p lay s ample s on the f ly . The sa m pler can be accesse d by clicking on the ―Sampl e r‖ tab in the lower win dow and features 12 slots for s amples whic h ar e available to use at a ny give n point in time.
18 Samples can be playe d from the skin‘s inter f ac e. The sampler is found just b elow the ‗Effects‘ int er face on t h e skin. Simply selec t the sample f r om the p ull-down m enu, and then click o n the sample t itl e to begin play. The frame a ro u n d the title will light up during playback.
19 VirtualDJ features a compreh ensive se t of au dio and vid eo effects and tr a nsiti o ns w hich can be accesse d by clicking the ―Effects‖ tab. The e ffects list is displayed on the le f t side. Each of the effects can be activat ed f or b oth decks.
20 In addition to mixin g traditional a u dio, VirtualDJ makes i t possible to mix vid eo content with the e as e and fa mi liarity of a DJ inter f ace. Instead of audio f ile s (.mp3, .wma, .m4a, e tc.), video files (.avi, .mpg, .wmv, .vob, etc.) can b e p lay e d .
21 Video Files i n the Browser Video f iles are distinguish ed in the B rows er with a small, blue ―V‖ on their icon . And, audio f il es with linked videos are distinguishe d in the Bro w ser with a small, blue ―L‖ on their icon . W hen playing a video /linked audio f il e, a video window w ill open in VirtualDJ.
22 In ad diti o n to being ab l e to play music and other video content, VirtualDJ a ll ows provides support t o play and mix k a raoke f il es. VirtualDJ is comp atible wit h M P 3+G, W AV+G, WM A+G , OGG+G, and .ZI P files. The tracks will a p pear with a ―K‖ in its icon .
