1 1 General Information Notes for operation in Ne w Zealand The grant of a T elepermit for any item of terminal equipment indicates only that T elecom has accepted that the item complies with the minimum conditions f or connection to its network. 3 3 Installation 3.1 Chec k contents of pack The f ollowing items are supplied in this pack: • one answ ering system with telephone cable • one power adaptor • one operating Manual • one warranty card 3.
4 4 Preparation 4.1 T urning the System On/Off T o tur n the system on, press ANSWER ON/OFF button once. The total number of recorded messages in two mailbo x es appears on the display . The system is now set to ans wer calls. T o turn the system off, press ANSWER ON/OFF b utton once.
5 Notes: • During the day/time setting, the displa y will tur n off . • If there is a delay of 20 seconds betw een any of the steps, the system e xits day/time setup mode . When you ha ve set the AM/PM and then wait f or 20 seconds, the unit will automatically announce the current day of the week and the time, and e xits day/time setup mode .
6 Note: The AM100 has two personaliz ed mailbox es. Y ou hav e an option to hav e callers leav e messages in either of the two mailbo xes. If you w ant the caller to leav e a message in a par ticular mailbox, your g reeting should instruct the callers to press either the “1*” or “2 *” b utton bef ore their message recording.
7 5 Answering System Operation 5.1 Setting the System to Answer Calls 1. Press ANSWER ON/OFF button once to tur n on the system. 2. When the system ans wers a call, it pla ys the outgoing message then beeps. 3. The caller can leav e a message up to one minute in length.
8 5.2 Screening Calls T o screen your calls, let the system ans wer . Listen to the caller’ s message through the system’ s speaker . If you decide to answ er the call, pick up any phone connected to the same phone line as the system. The system stops recording and resets to ans wer the next call.
9 1. T o listen to Mailbo x 1 messages, press MAIL 1 PLA Y/STOP button. T o listen to Mailbox 2 messages , press MAIL 2 PLA Y/ STOP button, the Message Counter will displa y the message number being pla yed .
10 5.6 T o Reset If an AC po wer f ailure occurs, or the A C power adaptor comes out of the wall, your unit will shut down until the po wer is restored. If your unit is not operating properly when the power is restored, proceed with a unit reset. 1. Unplug the AC adaptor from the po wer outlet and telephone line from the wall jack.
11 6.2 T urning Y our System On If you f orget to turn your system on, you can phone in from a remote location and turn it on automatically . 1. Call your telephone number . 2. The system answ ers after 10 rings. After the beep, enter your 3-digit security code.
12 7 Important information T emperature and ambient conditions The telephone ans wering system is designed for indoor use (temperature range of -10 °C to 50 °C). Do not install the system in areas where there is the risk of an explosion, e xcessive exposure to smok e, dust, vibrations , chemicals, moisture, and heat.
