2 Important Safety Information (AC Adapter Usage) • Use only the original AC adapter (optional) designed for this unit . Use of unsupported adapters may damage and/or may be hazardous to the unit. • Plug the AC adapter into the appropriate voltage outlet.

4 2. Prep aration 2.1 Inst alling/Replacing the Batteries 1. Remove the battery cover . 2. Insert four “AA” batteries as indicated in the battery comp artment and then re place the battery cover . Notes: • If t he battery low symbol ( ) appears on th e display , turn th e unit off then replace all bat teries at the same time.
5 2. Preparation EN 2.2 Setting the Buzzer/ Date and T ime 1. Press the button. 2. Set the Buzzer . 3. Set the monitor to the corre ct date and time before t aking a measurement for the first time.
6 3. Using the Unit 3.1 Applying the Arm Cuff Remove tight-fitting clothing or tight rolled up sleeve from your up per arm. Do not plac e the cuff over thick clot hes. 1. Insert the air plug into the air jack . 2. Put your arm through the cuff loop. 3.
7 3. Using the Unit EN 3.2 How to Sit Correctly T o take a measurement, you ne ed to be relaxed and comfort ably seated, under comfortabl e room temperature. No eating , smoking or exercising 30 minutes before taking a m easurement. • Sit on a chair with your feet flat on the floor .
8 3. Using the Unit 3.3 T aking a Reading Notes: • T o cancel a measurement, press the O/I ST ART button to turn off the unit and to release the air in the arm cuf f . • Remai n still while taking a measurement. 1. Press the O/I ST ART button. The cuff will start to inflate automatically .
9 3. Using the Unit EN 2. Remove the arm cuff. 3. Press the O/I ST ART button to turn off the monitor . The monitor auto matically stores the measurement in its memory .
10 3. Using the Unit 3.4 Using the Memory Function The monitor automatically stores the result up to 60 sets. It can also calcula te an average reading base d on the measurement s from the last three readings t aken within 10 minutes. If there are only two reading s in memory for that period, the average will be based on two readings.
11 3. Using the Unit EN T o delete all the val ues stored in memory When the memory symbol ( ) appears, firs t press the Memory button. Then while holding it down, press the O/I ST ART button simult aneously for about 2-3 seconds. Note: Y ou cannot partially delete the stored reading s.
12 4. T roubleshooting and Maintenance 4.1 The Icons and Error Messages Error Display Cause Remedy Irregular or weak pulses are detected. Remove the arm cuff. W ait 2-3 minutes and then take another measurement. Repeat the steps in section 3.3. If this error continues to appear , contact your doctor .
13 4. Troubleshooting and Maintenance EN Note: The irregular heartbe at symbol ( ) may also be displayed with error messages. Cuff is under inflated. Carefully read and repeat the steps listed under section 3.3. Movement during measurement. Repeat measurement.
14 4. Troubleshooting and Maintenance 4.2 T r oubleshooting Problem Cause Remedy The reading is extremely low (or high). Arm cuff not applied correctly . Apply the arm cuff correctly . Refer to section 3.1. Movement or talking during measurement. Remain still and do not talk during measurement.
15 4. Troubleshooting and Maintenance EN Nothing happens when you press the buttons. The batteries are empty . Replace the batteries with new ones. Refer to section 2.1. The batteries have been inser ted incorrectly . Insert the batteries with the correct (+/-) polarity .
16 4. Troubleshooting and Maintenance 4.3 Maintenance T o protect your unit from damage, please ob serve the following: • Do not subject the main unit and the cuff to extreme te mperatures, humidity , moisture or direct sunlight. • Do not fold the cuff or tubing tightly .

18 5. Optional Part s Using the Optional AC Adapter 1. Insert the AC adapter plug into the AC adapter jack on the rear side of the main unit. 2. Plug the AC adapter into an electrical outlet. T o disc onnect the AC adap ter , unplug the AC adapte r from the electrical outlet first and then remove the AC ad apter plug from the main unit.
