OPERA TING THE DEVICE (continued) This device is intended for use in measuring b lood pressure and pulse rate in the adult population. Do not use this device on infants or persons who cannot e xpress their intentions. Inflating to a higher pressure ma y result in bruising where the cuff is applied.

7 BEFORE T AKING A MEASUREMENT T o ensure a reliable reading follo w these recommendations: 1. A void eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, ex ercising, and bathing for 30 minutes before taking a measurement. Rest for at least 15 minutes before taking the measurement.

11 IRREGULAR HEAR TBEA T SYMBOL () When the monitor detects an ir regular rh ythm two or more times during the measurement, the Ir regular Heartbeat Symbol ( ) will appear on the displa y with the measurement values.
HEAR TBEA T SYMBOL/HYPER TENSION INDICA TOR () T AKING A MEASUREMENT The Heartbeat Symbol ( ) flashes on the displa y during the measurement. The Hear tbeat Symbol ( ) flashes at e very heartbeat.
The American Hear t Association recommends the follo wing guideline for upper limit of normal for home blood pressure readings: AHA Home Guideline for Upper Limit of Normal BP Systolic Blood Pressure 135 mmHg Diastolic Blood Pressure 85 mmHg This is a general guideline because blood pressure depends on age and morbidity .
1. Press the indicator on the battery cov er and slide the co ver of f in the direction of the ar ro w . 2. Install 4 “ AAA” size batteries so the + (positiv e) and – (negati ve) polarities match the polarities of the battery compar tment as indicated.
BA TTER Y REPLACEMENT When the Lo w Battery Indicator appears on the display screen, turn the monitor off and remo ve all the batteries. Replace with four ne w batteries at the same time. W ARNING If battery fluid should get in your ey es, immediately rinse with plenty of clean water .
16 Set the monitor to the cur rent date and time before taking a measurement for the f irst time. If the date and time are not set cor rectly , the measurement values stored in the memory and the a verage v alues ma y not be cor rect. The Blood Pressure Monitor automatically stores up to 84 indi vidual measurements values with the dates and times.
SET TING THE DA TE AND TIME 2. SETTING THE YEAR The year can be set betw een 2008 and 2030. When the displa y reaches 2030, it will return to 2008. Press the Memory button ( ) to advance b y increments of one year . Press the Date/T ime Setting button ( ) to set the cur rent year .

RESETTING THE DA TE AND TIME T o adjust the date or time after it has been setup when y ou f irst use the unit. Start with the monitor in the off position. 1. Press and hold the Date/T ime Setting button ( ). The Medication Symbol ( ) No.1 and the current setting ( on or oFF ) will appear on the displa y .
The Medication Reminder Alar m can be set to sound twice a da y to aler t the user to take a medication. The Medication Reminder Alarm can be set for either AM or PM aler ts. Only set the Medication Reminder Alarm after the date and time has been set.
2. SETTING ON OR OFF Press the Memory button ( ) to select on. Press the Date/T ime Setting button ( ). The hour flashes on the displa y . NO TE: Press the Memor y button ( ) to alternate between on or oFF . 3. SETTING THE HOUR The time is set using AM or PM.
4. SETTING THE MINUTE Press the Memory button ( ) to advance b y increments of one minute. Press the Date/T ime Setting button ( ) to set the minute. The Medication Symbol ( ) No.2 and the oFF setting appears on the displa y . 5. SETTING THE MEDICA TION REMINDER ALARM 2 Repeat steps from 2 to 4 to set the Medication Reminder Alarm 2.
6. TO TURN THE MONITOR OFF If the date and time are cor rect, press the ST AR T/ST OP button to turn the monitor off. T o change the date and time refer to “Resetting the Date and Time” on page 19.

26 2. Remo ve tight-f itting clothing from your upper left arm. 3. Apply the cuff to y our left upper arm so the blue arrow is centered on the inside of your arm and aligned with your middle f inger . The air tube runs down the inside of y our arm. The bottom of the cuff should be approximatel y 1/2" abo ve y our elbo w .
27 APPL YING THE ARM CUFF APPL YING THE CUFF ON THE RIGHT ARM When taking a measurement using the right arm use this instr uction for Step 3 on page 26. Apply the cuf f to your right upper ar m so the b lue ar ro w and the air tube runs along the inside of your elbo w .
1. Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor . Place your left arm on a table so the cuf f is le vel with your heart. 2. Press the ST AR T/ST OP button. All symbols appear on the displa y . The cuff starts to inflate automaticall y . As the cuff inflates, the monitor automatically determines your ideal inflation le vel.
3. When the measurement is complete, the ar m cuf f completely deflates. Y our blood pressure and pulse rate are displa yed. 4. Press the ST AR T/ST OP button to turn the monitor off. NO TE: The monitor will automatically turn off after tw o minutes. T AKING A MEASUREMENT 29 HEM-7300 e-s r2.
USING THE GUEST MODE The monitor is designed to take measurements and store the measurement values in the memory for one person. The monitor can also be used to take a single measurement for other persons using the GUEST Mode. Measurements taken using the Guest Mode are not stored in the memory .
Every time you complete a measurement the monitor stores the b lood pressure and pulse rate in the memory . The monitor automatically stores up to 84 sets of measurement v alues (blood pressure and pulse rate). When 84 sets of measurement v alues are stored , the oldest record is deleted to sav e the most recent values.
2. Press the Memory button ( ) to displa y the most recent set of measurement values on the screen. The values are displa yed from the most recent to the oldest. NO TE: The date and time are alternately displa yed with the measurement values. Press the Memory button ( ) to displa y the next set of v alues.
TO DELETE ALL V ALUES STORED IN THE MEMOR Y Y ou cannot par tially delete v alues stored in the memory . 1. Press the Memory button ( ) to turn the monitor on. 2. Press the Memory button ( ) again. While holding it do wn, press the ST AR T/ST OP button together for more than 5 seconds.
34 T o keep your digital blood pr essur e monitor in the best condition and pr otect the unit fr om damage, f ollow the dir ections listed below: Keep the monitor in the Stylish Zipper Case when not in use. Do not forcefully bend the arm cuff or air tube.
