3 EN Introduction Thank you for purchasing the O MRON M2 B asic Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor . The OMRON M2 Basic is a fully automatic blood pressure monitor , operating on the oscillometric prin ciple. I t measures your blood pressure and pulse rate simply and quickly .

11 2.P repar ati on EN Battery Life & Replacement If the battery low symbol ( ) appears on t he display , replace all four batteries at the same time. - When the battery low sym bol ( ) start s to blink, you w ill still be able to use the unit f or a short while.
12 3.Using the Unit 3. Usin g t he Unit 3.1 How to Sit Correctly Wh en T aking a Measurement Correct posture du ring measurement is necess ary to get accurate results. Notes: • Measurements should be taken in a quiet place and you should be in a relaxed, seated position.
13 3.Using t he Uni t EN Note: Y ou can take a m easurement on eith er your left or right arm. The blood pressure can differ between the right arm and the left arm and t herefore also the measured blood pressure v alues can be different. OMRO N recommends to always use the same arm for measurement.
14 3.Using the Unit 3.2 Applying t he Arm Cuff Be sure to wrap the arm cuff correctly so that you get accurate results. Measurements can be taken in light clothing. However , please remove thick clothes, such as sweaters, before taking a reading. 1. Insert the air plug into the air jack on the left side of the main unit.
15 3.Using t he Uni t EN 3. Position the arm correctly . T a king Mea surements on the Right Arm Apply the cuff so that the air tube is at t he side of your elbow. • Be careful not to rest your arm on the air tube, or ot herwise restrict the flow of air to the cuf f.
16 3.Using the Unit 3.3 T akin g a Reading 1. Press the O /I ST ART button to t urn the unit on. The cuff st arts to inflate automatically . Sit in a chair with your feet fl at on t he floor and place your arm on a table so that the cuff will be at the same lev el as your heart.
17 3.Using t he Uni t EN W arning: Self-diagnosis of measured result s and treatment are dangerous. Please foll ow the instructions of your doctor. 5. Remove the arm cuff. 6. Press the O /I ST ART button to turn the unit off. Note: If you forget to turn the unit off , it will automatically shut itself off af ter five minutes.

19 3.Using t he Uni t EN 3.4 Instructions for Special Conditions If your systolic pressure is known to be more than 220 mmHg, press and hold the O/I ST ART button until the arm cuff infl ates 30 to 40 mmHg higher than your suspected systolic pressure.
20 3.Using the Unit 3.5 Using the Memory Function The unit automatically s tores the last measurement values (blood pressure and pulse rate) in the memory . 1. Press and hold the O/I ST ART button until the last measurement value is displayed along with the memo ry sym bol .
21 3.Using t he Uni t EN T o Dele te the V alue S tored i n Memory 1. T o delet e stored readings, fi rst press and hold the O/I ST ART button until the last measurement value is displayed. Then keep the button pressed down for about 10 seconds. A ll readings will then be delet ed.

T o help ensure a reliable reading, avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smokin g, or exercising for at least 30 minutes before taking a measurement.
