2 Introduction Blood pressure measurements determined with Lumiscope Model 1131 are equivalent to those obtained by a trained obser ver using cuff/stethoscope auscultation method, within the limits prescribed by the American National Standard, Electronic or Automated Sphygmomanometers.
3 Quick Read Measuring T echnology This monitor uses trend-setting Quick Read T echnology to detect your blood pressure. With one touch of a button, the device will automatically start to inflate and determine your blood pressure by analysis of your pressure oscilla tions.
4 Blood Pressure Standard The W orld Health Organization (WHO) has developed a blood pressure standard, according to which areas of lo w- and high-risk blood pressure are identified. This standard, however , is a general guideline and blood pressures var y between different people, age groups, etc.

Installing Battery 1. Press do wn and lift the batter y cover in the direction of the arro w to open the batter y compartment. 2. Install or replace 4 “AA ” sized ba tteries in the batter y compartment according to the indications inside the compartment.
7 Applying the arm cuff 1. Plug in the cuff connecting tube into the unit. 2. Unwrap the arm cuff, leaving the “Index” end of the cuff through the D-ring of the cuff. 3. Put your left arm through the cuff loop. The "OK" range indication should be positioned closer to yourself with the rubber tube pointing in the direction of your arm.
Measurement Procedure 1. Press the User-Switching key to select Memor y Zone 1 or Memor y Zone 2. After a memor y zone is selected, press the button to reset the monitor so it can start measurement in the chosen memor y zone. 2. Press the button. All digits will light up, checking the display functions.
9 Measurement Procedure 4. When the measurement is completed, the cuff will automatically defla te. Systolic, diastolic and pulse will be sho wn simultaneously on the LCD screen. The measurement is then automatically stored into the pre-designated memory zone.
10 Recalling V alues from Memory 1. The Monitor has two Memor y Zones (1 and 2). Each zone can store up to 50 measurements. 2. T o read memor y values from a selected Memor y Zone, use the “User -Switching Key” to select a Memor y Zone (1 or 2) from which you want to recall values from.
11 Clearing V alues from Memory 1. Press the User-Switching key to select the memory zone 1 or memor y zone 2. 2. Continue to press and hold the “M” key for approxima tely 5 seconds, and the data in the pre- designated memor y zone will be erased automa tically .
T ime Adjustment 1. T o adjust the date/ time in the monitor , press the key . The display will show a blinking number sho wing the month. 2. Change the month by pressing the “ ” Key . Each press will increase the number by one in a cycling manner .
13 Helpful Tips Here are a few helpful tips to help you obtain more accurate readings: • Do not measure your blood pressure immediately after consuming a large meal. Wait a t least one hour after ea ting to take a measurement. • Do not smoke or drink alcohol before measuring your blood pressure.

15 Cautionary Notes: 1. The unit contains high-precision assemblies. Therefore, avoid extreme temperatures, humidity , and direct sunlight. Avoid dropping or strongly shocking the main unit, and protect it from dust. 2. Clean the blood pressure monitor bod y and the cuff carefully with a slightly damp, soft cloth.
