22 Using Print Pr operties Print Pr oper ties is the sof tware that controls the pr inting funct ion. Y ou can change the settin gs in Print Proper ties based on the type of project y ou want to create. Y ou can open Print Proper ties from almost an y progr am: 1 F rom the program “File” m enu, click Print .

28 Loading specialty media F ollow these guidelines when loading specialty media: Load Make sure Up to 100 sheets of inkjet paper (depending on the thickness) • The pr int side is facing you. • The paper guide rests against the edge of the paper .
29 Banner paper • Y ou remov e any paper from the paper suppor t before inserting ba nner paper . • Y ou select A4 or letter size Banner pa per in Print Proper ties. See “Changing pr int settings” on page 33. Note: F ailure to choose the correct paper size will cause a paper jam.
30 Up to 20 transparencies • The rough si des of the transparencies are f acing you . • The paper guide rests against the edge of the transpar encies . Note: Since transparencies require more dr ying time, we recommend th at y ou remov e each transpar ency as it e xits, and allow it to dry to av oid ink smudging.

49 Netw orking the All-In-One Overview A network is a group of computers or computer syst ems linked t ogether f or the pur pos e of shar ing reso urces, such as pr inters, files, or an Inter net connection.
50 Setting up a netw ork printe r with the peer-to-peer method With this method, the pr inter dr iver is fully installed on each client computer . Networ k clients reta in control of driver modificat ions. The client computer handles t he print job processing.
51 Setting up a netw ork printer with the point-and-print method With this method , the pr inter dr iver is pa r tially installed on eac h of the client computers netw orked to the host comp uter . The host computer controls driver cha nges and handles p rint job processing.
52 Maintaining the All-In-One Replacing the print car tridge Y our All-In-One uses t he f ollo wing cartr idge: Remo ving a used cart ridge Note: Make sure the All-In-One is on. 1 Lift the scanner u nit. 2 Snap the scanner su ppor t into position to hold up the scanner unit .
53 3 Press down on the car tridge lev er to raise the car tridge lid. 4 Remov e the old car tr idge, an d dispose of it. F or more inf or mation, see “Recycling Le xmark products” on pag e 60.
54 Installing the print car tridge 1 If you are installing a ne w print car t ridge, remov e the stick er and transpare nt tape from the bac k and bottom of t he car tridge. Warning: Do not touch the gold con tact area on the ca r tr idges . 2 Unless it is alre ady open, pres s down on the car tridg e lev e r to raise the car tr idge lid.
55 4 Snap the lid closed. 5 While lifting the scanner unit, press t he scanner suppor t bac k until it slides into the slot, and close th e scanner unit.
56 Aligning the print cartridge F ollowing cartridge installation, y ou should align y our cartr idge. Ho we v er , yo u may also ne ed to align the car tridge when: • Charact ers are not p roperly f ormed or are not aligned at the left margin. • Lines that should be v ertical and straight are printed as wa vy .
57 Impr oving print quality If yo u are not satisfied with t he print quality of the document: • Use paper that is a h eavier w eight, is bright white , or is coated. • Select a higher pr int quality: 1 With a document open , click File Æ Prin t .
58 Wiping the print car tridge nozzles and contacts 1 Remov e the print car tridge. F or more inf or mation, see “Remo ving a used car tridge” on page 52. 2 Dampen a clean, lint-fr ee cloth with water . 3 Gently hold the cloth against the nozzles f or about three se conds, and then wipe in the dire ction sho wn.
59 If the print quality does not impro v e, repe at “Wiping the print car tridge nozzles and contacts” up to two more time s. If print quality is still not satisfacto ry , replace the print car tridge. Fo r more inf ormation, see “Ordering supplies” on page 60.

62 Setup tr oubleshooti ng Symptom Solution The P ower light is not lit 1 Disconnect the power supply cord from the w all outlet, and then from the Al l-In-One. 2 Plug the cord all the wa y into the pow er supply on the All-In-One. 3 Plug the cord into an electrical outlet that other electr ical devices ha v e been using.
63 Software will not install 1 Check the USB cab le f or any ob vious damage. 2 Fir mly plug the rectangular end o f the USB cable into the USB por t of the computer . The USB por t is mar ked with the USB symbol. 3 Fir mly plug the square end of the USB cable into the back of the All-In-One .
64 Removing and reinstalling the software If the All-In-One software is not funct ioning properly or a communications error message appe ars, y ou ma y need to remo v e and then reinstall t he All-In-One soft ware . Note: Bef ore reinstalling, shut do wn and restart the computer .
65 Jams and misfeeds troub leshooting T o pre v ent jams and misf eeds: • Place the All-In-On e on a flat, le vel surf ace. • Use paper recommended f or an inkjet All-In-One. • Do not f orce the pap er into the All-In-One.
