1 Manuals fo r this Machine This is a mul ti-funct ional machi ne combini ng copier, facsimil e, print er and scan- ner functions . This manual descr ibes procedures common t o these functions. Each function's reference describes the operational procedures for that func- tions.

5 1. Basics Connecti ng the Ma chine Make sure that the shape and the position of the connector are as shown in the illustrat ion. Note ❒ The Eth ernet Board ( for Ethernet interface) a nd the IEEE1 394 Board (f or IEEE1394 interfa ce) cannot be installed in the machine at the same time.
Basics 6 1 Requirements Requirements Before usi ng this machine, make sure that all th e environmental and elect rical requiremen ts have been met. Connect the machine to the host com puter using the pa rallel port, Netw ork Inter face Board , or both .
Connecti ng the Machine 7 1 Note ❒ Consult yo ur network administrator before connecting the m achine to a ne t- work. ❒ Make sure to use a proper ly shielded and ground ed cable (UTP, ST P, Catego- ry/Type5) for th e connection to the host compute r (and/or HUB) in order to meet FCC and EMC Directive 89/336/EEC emission guidelines.
Basics 8 1 Indicators on Network Interface Board 1. Indicator (gr een) Tur ns gre en whil e the m achine is con- nected to the netw ork correctly. 2. Indicator (yellow) Turns yellow while 100 BASE-T X is oper- ating. Turns off while 10 BASE-T is operat ing.

Document Server 54 3 Sample Copy If you p rint multip le sets using the Sort function, y ou can check i f the print order or the print settings a re correct by printing out only the f irst set u sing th e { { { { Sample Co py } } } } key. Limitatio n ❒ This function can be used only when the Sort func tion has been turned on.
Printing Saved Documents 55 3 Prin t Fi rst Page You ca n print the first pa ge of the doc- ument selected in the “ Select Files to Print ” display to chec k the contents. If more than one docum ent is select- ed, the fi rst page of each document i s printe d.
Document Server 56 3 Deleting Saved Documents All unnecessary documents shoul d be del eted. This section des cribes ho w to delete saved documents. Important ❒ You can save up to 3,000 docu- ments in t he Document Serve r. No more documents can be saved when there are 3,000 docume nts in the Doc ument S erver.
