R emove the back c over Mak e sure that your device is turned off be fore you r emove the back cover or bat tery . 1. Hold the device secur ely . 2. Pry the device’s back co ver up by the notch at the bott om of the back cover . 3. Care fully remov e the back cover .
Insert the batt ery Y our device comes with a r echargeable lithium ion batt ery and is designed to use only manufactur er-specified original batteries. 1. Align the batt ery’s exposed copper contact s with the battery connect ors inside the batt ery compartment.
T urn on your HT C Surr ound™ Press the power but ton on the top panel t o turn your device on. Power but ton Sign into y our phone A Windows Live ID is the email addr ess you use to sign in t o services like Xbo x LIVE®, Zune®, Hotmail® and so on.
About the Start scr een The Start scr een contains tiles that ar e associated with apps and hubs on your phone. Flick up or down on the screen t o see the other tiles that are on the St art screen. Pin your fr equently accessed apps, c ontact cards, and mor e on the Start scr een.
Mak e a phone call 1. On the Start scr een, tap the Phone tile to open the Phone screen. 2. T ap . 3. T ap the desired phone number . 4. T ap call to make the call. 5. T o open the in-call options, tap while on a call. T o adjust the in-call volume, press the V olume Control but tons on the upper right side of the device.
Import your c ontact s When you set up your F acebook, Outlook or Google acc ount, your contacts ar e imported automaticall y into your Peopl e hub. And when you add F acebook, your friends’ feeds appear in your P eople hub, their photos show up in your Pictur es hub, and your own feeds pop up in your Me tile.
Link cont acts Y ou can link contacts if you ha ve two or more v ersions of the same contact because you have c ontact info for that per son on differ ent social networks or email accounts (f or ex ample, Windows Life and F acebook). 1. Fr om the Start screen, t ap the People tile.
Select a ringt one 1. Fr om the Start screen, t ap > Settings > ringtone & sounds . 2. T ap the Ringtone box. 3. Preview the ringt one by tapping beside the name of the ringtone. 4. T ap the name of the ringtone to set it as your ringtone. Change your ringt one Send a te xt message 1.

Connect to a W i-Fi network Wi-F i provides a fast, seaml ess connection at home, in the office and at thousands of hotspot s. Using Wi-F i is convenient and helps you save on your mobile dat a usage. T o help you tak e advantage of the speed and fl exibility of Wi-Fi, your phone arrives with W i-Fi on.
