4 ■ Operating Systems and Software Pr oducts The OSs an d products in th is manual are indic ated as f ollows : *1) Where there is no distinctio n between the diff erent ve rsions of the abov e operating sys tem, the general term "Windo ws" is used.
5 W arning Label HO T warn ing label: The glass surface i nside the ADF becomes hot during th e opera tion. Be c areful no t to touc h glass surfaces i nside the AD F. To avoid burn s, never touch around the area indicated by this label. Take care not to pinch your finge rs while turning the ADF.
6 Make sure to gr ound the scanner . Make sure to grou nd to avoid electric shock . Be sure to ground b e fore plugging i n to a Power outlet. Unplug from the ou tlet before removing the ground c onnecti on. Use the scan ner only at the indicated power v oltage .
7 The f ollowing are important cautions described in th is manual Do not install t he scanner on an unstabl e work table. When installi ng the scanner on a work tabl e, make sure that the ta ble is flat and lev el. Place the scanner so that none of its parts extend beyond the e dge of the table.
8 1 Preparation Contents of the Scanner P ac kage When you unpac k the scanner package , make sure that all of the f ollowing par ts are included in the package . Make sure the scanner pac kage contains all the par ts lis ted in the package contents list that is included in the package bo x.

11 ■ Model-Common P ar ts Functions of the Operator P anel The Operator P anel is comprised of a Function Number Display , buttons , and LEDs, which are used to operate the scanner and to chec k the scanner status.

13 2 Installing the Scanner The f ollowing descr ibes how to install the scanner . 1 Place the scanner at its installation site. The outer dimensions and the spaces required fo r installing the respective scanner types are as fol l ow s : 2 Unloc k the T ransport Lock (Fla tbed type only).

15 3 Connecting the Cables The f ollowing descr ibes how to connect the cab les between the scanner and your computer . The type of the connector for the cable depends on the scanner model y ou use. Confi rm the scanner model and use the correct cabl e.
16 1 Make sure that the computer is turned OFF . 2 Open the Cable Co ver (ADF type only). 3 Connect the scanner to y our computer either with a USB or SCSI cab le. The f ollowing describes the requirements for connecting with the respectiv e cables. ■ USB cable • Be sure to u se the USB cable w hich comes as an accessory with this scanne r .
17 4 Installing the Scanner Software Brief Inf ormation on the Bundled Software T o scan documents with this scanner , y ou must install a scanner driver f or operating the scanner as well as scanning software (hereinafter called the "app lication") f or launching the driver and perf or ming a scan.
18 ■ QuickScan Pro TM (trial) [QuickScan Pro (T rial)] (*1) Conf or ms to the ISIS standard. By using the ISIS scanner driver together with Quic kScan Pro TM , you can read scanned docume nts and create their images. This bundled Quic kScan Pro TM is a trial version, and can be e xecuted 30 times before it is disab led.

20 The f ollowing describes how to install the software . 1 Confirm that the scanner is not turned ON. 2 T urn on your computer and log onto Windows. 3 Insert the Setup D VD-ROM into y our disk drive . D The [FUJITSU Image Scanner Setup] screen appears.
21 This menu lets y ou select and install the required software programs one b y one. The procedure f or custom-ins talling the required software is as f ollows: 1 Confirm that the scanner is not turne d ON. 2 T urn on your computer and log onto Windows.
22 5 T est-Scanning Documents Using ScandAll PRO , you can test-scan documents to chec k if they are scanned with the ADF correctly . F or how to scan documents with the flatbed, ref er to “Chapter 4 V arious Documents” in the Operator’ s Guide.
23 4 Load a sheet into the scanner . 1) Load the document on the ADF P a per Chute f ace down. 2) Align the side guides to the width of the document. 3) Pull out the Stacker to the length of the document, and then raise the Stopper . 5 Launch ScandAll PR O .
24 10 Select the [Scan] menu D [Scan Settings]. D The [Scan Settings] dialog bo x appears. 11 Clear the [Save to file] c heckbo x. 12 Click the [Scanner Setting] b utton. D The scanner driver’ s setting dialog bo x appears. 13 Configure scanner settings such a s the resolution and paper size.
