Setting Up the S ca nner Follow t he steps below t o set up the scanner and connect it to the SCSI port on your Macintosh or t o another SCSI d evice. The SCS I cable included wit h the scanner has a 25-pin connector on one end and a dual 2 5-/50-pin connector on the other.

7. If you are connecting t he scanner direct ly to y our Macintosh, connect the 25-pin connector on the dual-connector end of the cab le to the S CSI port on the Macint o s h ; this por t has a icon above it. Tig h ten the t wo screws on the sides of the connector .
8. Conne ct the scanner’ s power ca ble to t he power inlet on the re ar of th e scan ner and plug t he othe r end int o a gr ounded electr ical outl et. 9. Raise t he scanner cover. 10. Turn on t he scanner by pr essing the | side of the power switch, which is on t he back of the scanner.
11. Tur n on a ny oth er ext ernal devi ces you wi ll use befo re you turn on the M acintosh. (Always turn on the scanner be fore tur nin g on th e c o mput er. ) The s canner’s Read y lig ht g oes ou t when y ou t urn on th e computer , fla shes fo r a moment , and t hen comes on agai n once the computer boot s.
8. Click Inst al l into Hard disk . Follow the prompts on the s creen to c o mp le te the in sta lla tio n an d res t ar t yo ur M acin to s h. (Once i nst alled, e • Paper w ill res ide i n a fol der on t he desk top.) After installation, a small fl o ating window will appear on your scr een.

6. Adjust t he pap er guides t o fit th e width of the paper. The sca nn er automa ticall y feeds the fir st pag e of your document to the sc anning position. Note: If e • Paper is n ot currently running, f irst make sure th at th e s can ner’s Read y light is on.
