THE CONTROL P ANEL 6 THE CONTROL P ANEL Note: If the POWER button is flashing ‘red’ it means the espresso machine is heating up. If the lights are constant then you can star t using the espresso machine. OFF Espresso machine is not active. POWER ON All lights flash 3 times.
FILLING THE WA TER RESERVOIR 7 FILLING THE W A TER RESERVOIR 1. Remove the water reser voir and open the lid. 2. Fill the water reser voir with water . Tip: The water reser voir should always be filled with fresh tap water or use your favourite mineral water .
STOP THE MACHINE · ST ART THE MACHINE 8 ST AR T THE MACHINE 1. Inser t the power cord into a 120V AC power socket. Ensure that the water control knob is in the CLOSE position. 2. Star t the unit by pressing the POWER button. All small round lights will illuminate and flash 3 times.
MAKING ESPRESSO 9 MAKING ESPRESSO · 1 CUP 1. Select the ‘One cup’ filter and place it in the filter holder . 2. Place one scoop of cof fee into the filter . 3. T amp the cof fee carefully. 4. Wipe the edge of the filter to remove any excess cof fee grinds.
MAKING ESPRESSO 10 MAKING ESPRESSO · COFFEE POD 1. Select the Espresso pod filter and place it in the filter holder . 2. Place the cof fee pod in the filter . 3. Position the filter handle on the brewing head and turn the handle to the right. 4. Place 1 cup under the brewing head and press the ONE CUP button.
FROTHING MILK · HOT W ATER 11 HOT W A TER 1. Remove the froth enhancing steam attach- ment from the steam nozzle. 2. Press the WA TER button. 3. Swing the steam noz- zle inwards over the drip tray and place a container under it. 4. Open the water control knob to the left for hot water and back again for stopping the water .
WARNING SIGN 12 W ARNING SIGN · W A TER CONTROL KNOB If the control knob is in the OPEN position you will get a warning sign when you star t the machine. WARNING SIGN: POWER light and STEAM/ WA TER lights flash. T ur n the water control knob to CLOSE position.
SECRET TO THE PERFECT CUP 13 SECRET TO THE PERFECT CUP With this appliance and a little experience, you can create café-quality cof fee at home. Here are a few helpful suggestions: A single shot of espresso should result in only 30–35mls of cof fee.
DESCALING 14 Ensure that the espresso machine is tur ned of f and the power cord is unplugged. 1. Remove the water reser voir fr om the machine and if necessar y empty any water . 2. Remove the drip tray and place it out of the way . 3. Remove the filter holder from the machine and rinse it thoroughly under r unning water and set aside.
TECHNICAL DA TA 15 21. Remove and empty the containers placed under the brewing head and steam nozzle. Once emptied, once again place one under the brewing head and the other under the steam nozzle.
CARE AND CLEANING 16 CARE AND CLEANING The cof fee making pr ocess involves extracting oils out of cof fee grinds to make espr esso cof fee. Deposits of these oils build up over time and af fect the taste of the cof fee and operation of the espresso machine.
TROUBLE SHOOTING 17 · See ‘Making an espresso’ · Clean around the edge of the filter and wipe the brewing head clean of cof fee. · Wipe brewing head with a damp cloth. · Contact the nearest authorized ser vice facility . · Contact the nearest authorized ser vice facility .
TROUBLE SHOOTING 18 · Preheat cups, filter, handle and filter . · Ensure that milk is heated properly during fr othing, but be sure not to boil the milk. · Close the water control knob. · Fill the reser voir with water. · Remove the froth attachment and clean under r unning water .
TROUBLE SHOOTING 19 · T amp the cof fee grind lighter. · Change to a coarser grind of cof fee. · Clean out the filter thoroughly by holding it under r unning water and dr y or r un water through the filter with no cof fee. · Wipe over brewing head area and filter holder with a damp cloth.
