EtherFast ® 10/100 LAN Cards Getting to Know the EtherFast 10/100 L A N Card LEDs Link/Act The Link LED will illuminate when the card has been suc- cessfully connected to a netw ork and flicker when data is being transmitted or recei ved o ver the netw ork.

Linksys EtherFast Series 9. Reconnect your PC’ s po w er , then po w er on your computer . Y our com- puter will automatically reco gnize the card and assign it a unique IRQ ("inter rupt") and I/O address. The card installation is complete.

Linksys EtherFast Series 4. Select "Search for the best dri ver for y our de vice (Recommended). ” Click Next. 5. Select "Flopp y disk dri ves". Click Ne xt to continue. 6. A window will open sa ying that W indo ws is now ready to install the Linksys LNE100TX F ast Ethernet Adapter driv er (seen on the next page).
• If your PC asks for the Linksys Setup or Driver Disk • If you are asked to supply your Windows 98 Installation Files or Disks • If you are asked for a file that includes “LNE100TX” in its name • If you receive a V ersion Conflict error 1.

Do not click the Cancel button or Escape ke y . Clicking either of these buttons will prev ent y ou from logging into the netw ork.

If W indo ws does not ask you to restart your PC, click the Start button, choose Shut Do wn , choose Restart , then click Ye s .

Linksys EtherFast Series 28 Windows NT 4.0 Installation & Setup Overview The follo wing instructions will set up the EtherF ast 10/100 LAN Card in a computer running NT 4.0 ser ver/w orkstation. Y ou should ha ve y our original W indo ws NT CD-ROM handy during the installation, as y ou might be asked to suppl y it.

Linksys EtherFast Series 30 6. The adapter will be added to the list of installed Netw ork Adapters. Click Next . 7. Place check marks beside each listed netw ork protocol that y ou wish to install. See your Microsoft W indo ws NT user guide or talk to your netw ork administrator for more informa- tion about netw ork protocols.
EtherFast ® 10/100 LAN Cards 31 8. A list of ser vices will appear . Click Next to appro v e these services, fol- lo w ed b y Ne xt again. 9. NT will probabl y ask y ou to suppl y your original W indo ws NT CD-R OM or setup disks. If so, place your W indo ws NT CD-R OM in your CD dri v e.
Linksys EtherFast Series 32 11. NT will cop y the necessary network driv ers to y our PC. When the cop ying is complete, you will see a list of installed bindings. Change the bindings settings if needed and click Next . Click Ne xt again. 12. Choose either W orkgr oup or Domain , depending on the type of netw ork you're setting up.

Linksys EtherFast Series Installing the EtherFast Network Driver if Networking is Already Installed The follo wing steps will install the EtherF ast Card’ s driv er softw are on y our PC, enabling y our PC to properl y communicate with the card. Remember that y ou m ust be logg ed on as a netw ork administr ator to continue .

T ype a: into the box on your screen and click OK . 5. Highlight the Linksys LNE100TX F ast Ethernet Adapter (LNE100TX v4) entry in the window that appears.
Linksys EtherFast Series 6. When NT asks you for the media type. Choose the A utoSense option. When f inished , click on OK . Click Close . 7. NT will probabl y ask y ou to supply y our original W indows NT CD-R OM or setup disks. Direct W indo ws NT to the proper location (most likel y D:i386 ).

Once your PC has rebooted , double-click the Netw ork Neighborhood icon on your desktop. Ensure that y ou ha v e access to the netw ork. If y ou do, your card has been properl y installed.
Linksys EtherFast Series Novell Client32 Setup for Windows 95 and 98 Overview Y ou must install No v ell Client32 driv ers connecting to a 4.x or 5.0 server while in W indows 95. If you ar e using W indo ws 98 , y ou must obtain the latest version of Client32.
EtherFast ® 10/100 LAN Cards The Client32 installation will be different, depending on the v ersion of W indo ws that you are using. • If you are using W indo ws 98, click Next . Choose Sear ch for the best driver for your de vice (r ecommended) and click Next again.
Linksys EtherFast Series 40 8. Double-click on No v ell NetW ar e Client32 and make any setting changes as necessary . When y ou're f inished , sa v e your changes and reboot. The Client32 driv ers ha v e been installed. Y ou should no w be a ble to access y our No v ell NetW are netw or k thr ough the Netw ork Neighborhood icon.
EtherFast ® 10/100 LAN Cards Novell NetWare Ser ver Setup Overview The EtherF ast Card network dri v er will be automaticall y installed during all of the follo wing NetW are installation procedures. During the setup you ma y want to refer to y our NetW are Installation Manual for help.
Linksys EtherFast Series 42 5. If the LAN driv er is not located in the default directory , specify the f ile's path on the command line. The LO AD command prompts you for the con- f iguration parameters if they are not supplied on the command line.
EtherFast ® 10/100 LAN Cards 43 7. Add the LO AD and BIND statements to y our server's A UT OEXEC.NCF f ile so that the LAN driver loads automaticall y each time y our server is started up. The loading and binding is complete. The server is r ead y .

Linksys EtherFast Series 50 Appendix Sharing Y our Files and Printers Overview By sharing your f iles and printers, other PCs on your netw ork will be ab le to access the resources on your PC. Before sharing your f iles and printers, you should prepare your computer to be used with an y f ile ser vers that ma y be on the netw ork.
