W ARNINGS Do not store a spare or disconnected liquid propane cylinder under or near this barbecue.
3 STORAGE AND/OR NONUSE • The gas must be turned off at the liquid propane cylinder when the Weber ® gas barbecue is not in use. • LP cylinder must be stored outdoors in a well -ventilated area out of reach of children. Disconnected LP cylinder must not be stored in a building, garage or any other enclosed area.
4 GENERAL INSTRUC TIONS CLEANING W ARNING: T urn your Weber ® gas barbecue OFF and wait for it to cool before cleaning. CAUTION: Do not clean your Flavorizer ® bars or cooking grates in a self-cleaning oven.
5 5 GAS INSTRUC TIONS Fill liquid propane cylinder Note - The liquid propane cylinder manufacturer is respon- sible for the materials, workmanship and performance of the cylinder . If the cylinder has a defect, malfunctions, or you have a question regarding the cylinder , call the cylin- der manufacturer ’s customer service center .
6 6 GAS INSTRUC TIONS We utilize various LP tank manufacturers. Some of the tanks have differing top collar assembles. (The top collar is the metal protective ring around the valve.) One se- ries of tanks mount with the valve facing front. The other tanks mount with the valve facing away from the fuel scale.
7 7 GAS INSTRUC TIONS W ARNING : The gas connections of your Summit ® gas grill have been factory tested. We do however recommend that you leak check all gas connections before operating your Summit ® gas grill. Remove control panel Part required: Phillips Screwdriver .
8 8 GAS INSTRUC TIONS W ARNING: Do not ignite burners when leak checking. Check for leaks by wetting the connections with the soap and water solution and watching for bubbles. If bubbles form or if a bubble grows, there is a leak. Check: 1) Gas line-to-manifold connections.
9 9 GAS INSTRUC TIONS Liquid Propane Cylinder The liquid propane cylinder manufacturer is responsible for the materials, workmanship and performance of the tank. If the tank has a defect malfunctions, or you have a question regarding the tank, call the tank manufacturer ’s customer service center .

11 11 OPERA TING INSTRUC TIONS The most important thing to know about grilling is which cooking method to use for a specifi c food, Direct or Indi- rect. The difference is simple: place the food directly over the fi re, or arrange the fi re on either side of it.
12 12 OPERA TING INSTRUC TIONS Grilling Tips & Helpful Hints • Always preheat the grill before cooking. Set all burners on HIGH heat and close lid; heat for 10 minutes, or until thermometer registers 500˚-550˚F (260˚-288˚C). • Sear meats and cook with the lid down for perfectly grilled food every time.

15 Problem Check Cure Burners burn with a yellow or orange fl ame, in conjunction with the smell of gas. Inspect Spider / Insect Screens for possible obstructions. (Blockage of holes.) Clean Spider / Insect Screens. (See Section “Annual Maintenance”) Burners do not light.
16 16 MAINTENANCE WEBER ® SPIDER /INSECT SCREENS Y our Weber ® gas barbecue, as well as any outdoor gas appliance, is a target for spiders and other insects. They can nest in the venturi section(1) of the burner tubes. This blocks the normal gas fl ow , and can cause the gas to fl ow back out of the air shutter .
17 17 MAINTENANCE Replacing Main Burners 1. Y our Summit ® gas grill must be OFF and cool. 2. T urn gas OFF at source. 3. Disconnect regulator . 4. Remove cooking grates. 5. Remove Smoker box. 6. Remove Flavorizer ® bars. 7. T o remove control panel refer to “Remove the control panel” under “Check for Gas Leaks.
18 18 MAINTENANCE 1 1. Lift and twist the burner assembly slightly , to separate the Crossover ® tube (a) from the burners (b). 12. Remove the Crossover ® tube. 13. Pull the selected burner(s) tube(s) from manifold frame and replace with a new burner tube.
19 19 MAINTENANCE Crossover ® Ignition System Operations If the Crossover ® ignition system fails to ignite the LEFT burner in a burner set, light the LEFT burner with a match. If the LEFT burner lights with a match, then check the Crossover ® ignition system.
