1 Introduction Congratulations on purchasing y our V iking Components IntelliFlash™ USB Combo Reader for your computer . IntelliFlash utiliz es USB tech- nology , the latest advanc ement in the PC industr y , bringing you con- venient, high-speed access to a variety of storage cards.

3 Software Installation Note: Before connecting the V iking Components IntelliF lash USB Flash Memor y Reader to y our computer , its software must be installed. Proc eed to your comput er ’ s operating system and follow the software installation instructions.

Mac OS 8.6 or Later: 1. Inser t the supplied “ Viking Components IntelliFlash Software Installation ” CD into your comput er ’ s CD drive. Locate the CD icon on your computer’ s desktop and double-click on it to open. Locate the “ IntelliFlash Installer ” icon on this CD and double-click on it to launch the application.
Mac OS 8.6 or Later: (Continued) 3. The “ IntelliF lash Installer ” window will open. Y our hard drive should be selected in the “ Install Location ” pop-up menu. Click on the “ Install ” button to begin the driver installation. 4. I f you ha ve an y other application open, a close all other application warning will appear .
Mac OS 8.6 or Later: (Continued) 5. After the drivers ha ve been installed , your system will need t o be restarted. Click on the “ Restart ” button to restart your computer . 6. Y our software installation is now complete . Please proceed to the “ Hardware Installation ” section on page 10.
4 Hardware Installation 1. Locate an av ailable USB port on your computer and connect it with the USB cable on the back of the Viking IntelliFlash USB Flash Memory Reader .
5 Using the Viking IntelliFlash The V iking Components IntelliFlash USB F lash M emory Reader sup- ports a variety of storage cards. An A T A flash card can be used in the top socket. CompactFlash (when inserted into a CompactFlash adapter) can also be used in the top socket.
Operation Indication: The V iking Components IntelliF lash USB Flash Memory Reader has two active LED indicators for displa ying operation status. The po wer LED (green) is illuminated when pow er is being supplied to the reader . The activity LED (red) will flash when the reader is busy .
Smar tMedia Card Installation & Remo val: Insert a Smar tMedia card (SSFDC) with its gold leads side face down into the bottom socket of the reader .
Reading & W riting to Y our Storage Card: In most systems, a storage card is seen like a hard drive. Windows F or Windows 2000, 98 and 95 (OSR2) based systems, go to the “ My Computer ” icon on your systems desktop and double-click on it. Y ou should see the card listed .
