9 GENERAL NOTES ON USING YOUR APPLIANCE We sugges t that yo u run the oven el ements for 10 – 15 minutes at 22 0 o C to burn off any r esidue from the ir surfaces . T he procedure s hould be re peated wit h the grill for approx imately 5 – 10 min utes.

At the end of the cook tim e the m inute minder will automatic ally switc h off the main oven if in use. The minu te min der g ives an au dible r emind er at t he end of any period of cook ing up to 23 hours and 50 minutes.
13 BEFORE USING THE HOTPLATES FOR THE FIRST T IME Turn the c ontrol k nob to a m edium/ high sett ing and a llow t he hotp late to heat, u ncovered by a sauc epan for 3-5 minutes. This h ardens the protec tiv e coating on the hotpla tes, and makes it more r esistan t to norm al use.

17 USES OF THE TOP OV EN The top oven is the small er of the two ovens. It is heated by elemen ts in the top oven and bottom of the ov en. It is designed for cook ing on o ne lev el and f or smal ler qua ntities o f food. It g ives espec ially go od resu lts if used to c ook fruit cakes , sweet or savo ury fla ns or qu iche.
