6 2 . Operations Ov erview 2.1 Unpacking and Inspec tion This printer has been speci ally packa ged to w ithstand damage durin g shipping. Pl ease ca refully inspect the packa ging and printer upon receiv ing the bar code printer. Please retain the packaging ma terials in c ase you need to r eship the printe r.

3 3. Setup 3.1 Setting up t he Printer 1. Place the printer on a flat , secure surface. 2. Make sure the pow er switch i s off. 3. Connect the pri nter to the computer wi th the provided USB cable.
4 3.2 Loading the Ribbon 1. Open the printe r top cover by pressing the top cov er open tabs located on each side of the printer. 2. Insert the paper core t o the ribbon rewind spind le.
5 4. Push the print head r elease button to open the print head m echanism. 5. Insert the ribbon t o the ribbon spindle. 6. Insert the left si de of ribbon supply spindle to the ribb on supply hub first then insert the right side o f ribbon supply spind le t o the hole at the ri g ht side of ribbon mechanism.
6 7. Pull the leader of the ribbon through the print head and st ick the lea der of the ribbon onto the ribbon rew ind paper core. 8. Turn the ribbon rew ind hub unt il the ribbon plastic leade r is thorou g hly wound and the blac k section of the ribbon covers the p rint head.

8 3.3 Loading the Media 3.3.1 Loading the Roll Labels 1. Open the printe r top cover by pressing the top cov er open tabs located on each side of the printer. 2. Insert the paper rol l in to the media supply spind le and use two fixing tabs to fix the pape r roll onto the center of the spind le.
9 4. Push the print head r elease but t on to open the print head mechani sm . 5. Feed the paper, p r inting si de face up, through the media ba r , media sensor and place the label lea ding edge onto the pl aten roller. M ove the media guides to fit the label width.
10 6. Close the print hea d mechanism by both hands and ma k e sure the latch es are engaged securely . 7. Use “ Diagnostic Tool ” to set the media senso r type and calibrate the selected sensor.
11 3.3.2 Lo ading the Media in Peel -off mode (Option) 1. Refer to chapte r 3.3.1 to install the label. Use “ Dia g nostic Tool ” to set the media sensor type and calibrate the selected sen sor. 2. Pull the label th rough the f ront of the printer and ta k e some label s off only leav e the liner.
12 4. Close the peel-off m odule. Use the DiagTool to set the peel-off mode by selecting “PEE L” option f or Post-Print Ac tion setting then cli ck “Set” button to enable the peel -o ff mode. 5. Close the print hea d mechanism and printer cover .
13 3.3.3 Loading the Media in Cutter Mode (Option) 1. Refer to chapte r 3.3.1 to install the label. 2. Lead the media th r ough the cut t er paper openin g.
14 3.3.4 External Label Roll Mount Installation (Option) 1. Use two screws to install the extended plate on t o the ex t ernal label roll mount. 2. Attach the extende d plate on the bottom of the p rinter. (If y ou purchase the ex ternal label roll mount only , just need to put it on the rear of printer for using.
15 4. Feed the media th r ough the rear external l abel entrance chute. 5. Refer to chapte r 3.3.1 to install the label. Use “ Dia g nostic Tool ” to set the media senso r type and calibrate the selec ted sensor. Note: Please calibrate the g ap/black m ark sensor w hen changing media .
16 4. LED and Button Func tions Th is printer has one button and one three-colo r LED indi cator . By indi cating t he LED w ith different color and pressing the button, printer can feed labels, pause the printing job, select and calibrate the media sensor, print pri nter self- test report, rese t printer to defaults (initializatio n).
17 4.3 Pow er-on U ti lities There are six pow er-on utilities to set up and test prin ter hardware. These utilities are a ct ivated by pressing FEED but t on then turni ng on the printer power simulta neously and release the button at di f ferent color o f LED.

Diagnostic Tool TSC’s Diagnostic U tility is an integrated tool incorporating featu r es that en able you to explore a printer’s settin g s/status ; change a pri nter’s setti ng s; downl oad graphics, fonts and firmw are; create a printer bitmap font; and send addition al commands to a printer.
25 5.2 Printer Func tion 1. Select the PC inte rf ace conne cted with bar code printer. The default inte rf ace setting is USB interface. I f USB interface is connected w ith printer, n o other settings need to be changed in the inte rf ace field. 2. Click the “ Pri nter Function ” bu tton to setup.

User s can use D iagnostic T ool to setup the Etherne t by RS-232, USB and Etherne t interfaces. T he following contents w ill instruct users how to con f igure the Etherne t by these three interfaces.

31 6 . Troubleshooting 6.1 Common Pr oblems The follow ing guide lists the most common probl ems that m ay be encoun tered when operating this bar code printer.
