5 About Y our New P rinter With y our new 3M™ P ortab le Labeler PL200 printer, you can cr eate a wide vari ety of high- quality , self- adhesive labels .
6 Recharging the Battery Pack The battery pack automati cally recharges while the printer is connected to a po wer sourc e through the power adapter . Charg ing the batter y pack for the first time will take ap pro ximately eight hours; recharg ing the battery pack will take ap proxima tely two ho urs .
7 Selec ting a Language The first time yo u turn on the power , you are prompted to select your desired language . By default, the language is set to English. Several language-related featur es on the printer are determined b y the language setting, such as special characters, menu text, and so on.
8 CAPS M ode The key toggles capitalization on and off . When CAPS mode is turne d on, the CAPS indicat or is shown on the display and all letters that you enter are capitalized . The default setting is CAPS mode on. When CAPS mo de is off , all letters entered appear in lowercase.
9 Removing Labels from a F ile Y ou can remov e one or more labels fr om a label file. T o remov e a label 1. Pr ess + . 2. Selec t one of the following: • All to remove all of th e labels in the file. • Current to r emove the label a t the current cursor position.
10 Using Interna tional Characters The printer suppor ts the extended Latin charac ter set using RACE technology . Similar to using a mobile phone keypad, holding down a letter key will scroll thr ough variat ions of that letter .
11 T o creat e a flag label 1. Pr ess + . 2. Selec t Small , Medium , Lar ge , or XLarge f or the wrap around portion and press . 3. Enter or select the length for the flag portion of the label and press . Selec t AU T O to have the length automatically set to fit the text.
12 T o print separator lines bet ween the breakers , see Printing Separat or Lines Between C ells on page 14. Using Br eaker Multipliers Breaker multipliers allo w yo u to adjust the size of individual breakers within an Electrical P anel label. T o adjust the size of an individual br eaker 1.
13 Creatin g Mo dule La bel s A Module label allows you to label a row of fuses of var ying widths. Y ou set the width of a fuse and the number of fuses, enter the text for each fuse, and print. Y ou can use fuse multipliers to adjust the width of individual modules as necessary.
14 Changing the La bel S ettings Once you create a specific label, you can change the settings without star ting all over again. T o change the label settings 1. Pr ess . 2. Selec t Curren t label config . and press . The settings fo r the par ticular label type are display ed.
15 Hiding Barc ode T ext Y ou can choose to hide the human-readable text for the bar code . T o hide barcode te xt 1. Pr ess + . 2. Selec t Barcode HR and pr ess . 3. Selec t Off . 4. Pr ess and then selec t Done ( OK) . A dding S ymbols Y our printer includes a set of default symbols to use on your labels.
16 Using Simple Serialization Simple serialization creat es a series of labels by incrementing one alphanumeric character in the pattern. For example , 101, 10 2, 103, 104, and so on. T o use simple serialization 1. Enter the text for your label. 2. Pr ess .
17 C ollating Multiple C opies When printing multiple copies of a label file containing more than one label , all the copies of a label are printed bef ore the next label star ts printing. Y ou ca n choose to have the label file print collated, so each complete cop y of the file prints before the sec ond copy starts.
18 Deleting a Label File fr om Memor y When you no longer need a stored label file , you can delete the file from memory . T o delete a label from memory 1. Pr ess . The sav ed label files are display ed. 2. Selec t the label file you want to delete. 3.
