The SONOS PLAY:3 The SONOS PLA Y:3 is a wireless music syst em that lets you use an y Sonos controller to control and enjoy all the music you want all over your house (see "Sonos Controllers" on page 2 for more information).

SONOS PLA Y:3 3 SONOS PLAY:3 Front Note: The SONOS PLA Y:3’ s front grille is not remova ble. Tampering with the gril le may result in damage to your PLA Y :3. On/Off • Using a Sonos cont roll er , select Pause All from the ROOMS pane (the Rooms menu on the CONTROL).
Product Guide 4 SONOS PLAY:3 Back Threaded mounting hole 1/4 inch (6.75mm) / 20-thread The SONOS PLA Y :3 has an integrated m o unting hole on the back of the unit so it can be wal l - mounted if desired (mounting bracket not in cluded.) SONOS PLA Y:3 5 Selecting a Location for Your PLAY:3 Y ou can locate the SONOS PLA Y:3 just about an ywhere. Its comp act size makes it easy to place the PLA Y:3 on the kitchen counter , or take it out to the patio with you.
Product Guide 6 Adding to an Existing Sonos System Once you’ve got your S onos music system set up, you can easi l y add more Sonos components any time (up to 32 rooms). If your house has structured (built-in) network wiring, you c an make a wired connec tion to the new Sonos component(s).
SONOS PLA Y:3 7 Using a handheld Sonos controller 1. Select Settings -> Room Settings . 2. Select one of the Sonos components you wish to create a stereo pa ir with (PLA Y :3 or PLA Y:5 only). 3. Select Create Stereo Pair , and touch Next . 4. Select the other unit you wish to pair .
Product Guide 8 Using the Sonos Controller for Mac or PC 1. Choose one of the following: • Using the Sonos Controller for PC: Select Settings from the Manage menu. • Using the Sonos Contro ller for Mac: Select Preferences -> Room Settings from the Sonos menu.
SONOS PLA Y:3 9 Surround settings The default setting is determined by the calibration process. If you wish to make a change, you can follow the steps below . Using a handheld Sonos controller 1. From the Settings menu, select Room Settings . 2. Select the room the PLA YBAR and s urround speakers are located in.
Product Guide 10 3. Choose the room the PLA YBA R is located in from the Room Settings for drop-down list. The room n ame appears as Room (+LS+RS). 4. From the Basic tab, click Remove Surround Speakers . If these were newly purchased PLA Y :3s, they will appear as Unused in the Rooms pane.
SONOS PLA Y:3 11 T o make changes to your shared folders list, select the Settings menu from a handheld Sono s controller and then choose one of the following options: • T o add a new music folder to Sonos, selec t Manage Music Libr ary -> Music Library Setup -> Add New Share .
Product Guide 12 1. Check the firewall Firewall software installed on the computer may be blocking the ports that Sonos us es to oper ate. First, disable all your firewalls and try to connect agai n. If this resolves the problem, you should co nfigure your firewall to work with the Sonos Controller for Mac or PC.
SONOS PLA Y:3 13 Not all rooms are visible Y ou are probably experiencing wireless interference. Change the wireless channel your Sono s system is operating on by following the steps below . • Using a handheld Sonos controller: From the Settings menu, touch Advanced Settings , and then Wireless Channel .
