13 3.6 Connecting Micr ophone And Speaker Y ou could either use a han dset connecte d to the EZ Mode m, or connect a mi cr op ho ne an d a speaker for voi ce r ecor ding and playback. NOTE: A ny commercially available microphone is usable. For the speaker , any 8 ohm speaker rated around 1W att can be driv en directl y by the audio output.

17 4.2 Window s ME 1. The message of Anal og Modem w ill appear . Select “ Specify the location of the driver [Advanced]” and click Nex t . 2. Select “Search for the best driver for your device [Recom m ended]”, then select Specify a location and t ype F: SMC3056EM (F is the letter of CD-ROM drive ) and click Next to continue.
18 3. Windows will find the driver for a SMC E Z Mode m External Da ta F ax V oic e Mod em nd cl ick Next . 4. Click Finish to end this installation procedure.
19 4.3 Window s NT 1. Double click “ Mo d em s ” form Start → → → → Setting → → → → Control Panel. 2. Check “ Don’t detect m y modem ; I will select it from a list “ an d then click Next.
20 4. Indicating th e path: F:SMC3056EM and then click OK. 5. Select the m odel of y our m odem and th en click Next. 6. Select the C OM port that y ou connect m odem to you r PC and click Next.
21 7. Windows has finished installing the software. Click Finish to com plete Installation. 8. Y ou can see the m odem set up on y our PC. Click Close to complete Installation.
22 4.4 Window s 2000 1. Res tart the computer after connectin g the modem to PC. When W indows detects the m odem, the w izard will h elp you to install the new device. Click Next to begin installation. 2. Select” Search for a suitable driver for m y device [recommended]”, and cli ck Next .
