AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a A ccessing the pr oduct Access from the Internet Once connected, the Axis product is accessible on your local net work (LAN). To access the product from the Internet you must con fi gure your network router to allow incoming data traf fi c to the product.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a A ccessing the pr oduct Note • The default administrator user name root is permanent and cannot be deleted. • If the password for root is lost, the product must be reset to the factory default settings. See Reset to factory default settings, on page 49 .

AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a A ccessing the pr oduct Click the Emulate joystick mode button and click in the image to move the camera view in the direction of the mouse pointer. Click the Center mode button and click in the image to center the camer a view on that position.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Media str eams Media streams The Axis product provides several audio and video stream form ats. Your requirem ents and the properties of your network will determine the type you use. The Live View page in the product provides access to H.

P l ease see the AXIS Media Control User’s Manual for more information. The AMC Control Pane l is automatically installed on fi rst use, after which it can be con fi gured.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Media str eams Note • <ip>= IP addess • The Axis product supports QuickTim e 6.5.1 and later. • QuickTime adds latency to the video stream. • It may be possible to use other players to view the H.264 stream using the paths a bove, although Axis do es not guarantee this.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Settin g up the pr o duct Setting up the product The Axis product can be con fi gured by users with administrator or opera tor rights. Click Setup in the top right-hand corner of t h eL i v eV i e wp a g e . • Administrators have unrestricted a ccess to all settings.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Video and A udio Video and Audio The video and audio settings ca n be used to optimize video a nd audio quality. You can con fi gure the following: • Vide o stream settings. See page 20 . •S t r e a m p r o fi les. See page 21 .
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Video and A udio • Video & Audio > Video Stream .U n d e r Preview , click Open and select the Show pixel counter option to enable the rectangle in the image. Use the mouse to move and resi ze the rectangle, or enter the number of pixels in the Width and Height fi elds and click Apply .
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Video and A udio • To s elect the default stream pr o fi le go to Live View Con fi g > Stream Pro fi le and choose the pro fi le from the drop-down list.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Video and A udio Day/Night The IR cut fi lter prevents infrared ( IR) light fro m reaching the image sensor. In poor li ghting conditions, for example at night, or when using an IR lamp, set the I R cut fi lter to Off . This increases light sensitivity and allo ws the product to “see” infrared light.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Video and A udio To use your own image, such as a logo, fi rst upload the image to the Axis product. Go to Video & Audio > Overlay Image , click Browse to locate the fi le and then click Upload .T h e fi l ec a nt h e nb es e l e c t e df r o mt h e Use overlay image drop-down list .
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Video and A udio Half-duplex - Audio can be transmitted in both directions between th e Axis product and the client computer, but only in one direction at a time. You mus t actively receive sound using the Talk/Listen button visible in the Live View page (see AXIS Media Control viewer toolbar ).
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Video and A udio Audio Output An external speaker can be connected to the p roduct’s Audio- out connector. The output can be used with high impedance headphones or connected to another ampli fi er with speakers. Con fi gure the audio output settings under Video & Audio > Audio Settings .

AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a PTZ (P an T ilt Zoom) PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) Preset Positions A preset position is a prede fi ned view that can be used to quickly steer the camera to a speci fi c location. Preset positions can be accessed in several ways: • By selecting the preset from the Preset posi tions drop-do wn list in the Live View Page.

AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Detector s Detectors Camera Tampering Camera Tampering can gene rate an alarm whenever the came ra is repositioned, or when the lens is covered, sprayed or severely defocused. To send an alarm, for example an email, an action rule must be set up.

Select the Con fi gure Included Windows option and click New . Select the new window in the list of wind ows and enter ad e s c r i p t i v en a m e .

AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Ev e n ts Events The Axis product can be con fi gured to perform actions whe n different events occur, for example, star t a recording when m otion is detected. The set of conditio ns that de fi nes how and when the action is triggered is called an Action Rule .
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Ev e n ts 5. Set one of the available pre-pr ogrammed time intervals from the Schedule drop-down list. 6. Select Send Noti fi cation from the Type drop-down list. 7. Select where to send the noti fi cation from the Recipient drop-down list.

To use the recurrence in an Action Rule, fi rst se lect Time from the Trigger drop-down list in the Action Rule Setup page and then select the rec urrence from the second drop-down list. To modify or remove recurrences, sele ct the recurrence in the Recurrences List and click Modify or Remove .

AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a Re c o rd i n gs Note If a new stream pro fi le is selected while a recording is ongoing, the reco rding will be stopped and saved in the recording list and a new recording with the new stream pro fi le will star t.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a System Options System Options Security Users User access control is enabled by default and can be con fi gured under System Options > Security > Users . An administrator can set up other users by givi ng them user names and passw ords.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a System Options IEEE 802.1X IEEE 802.1X is a standard for port-based Network Admission Control p roviding secure authentication of wired and wireless network devices. IEEE 802.1X is based on EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol).
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a System Options To change the date and time settings, select the preferred Time mode under Ne w Server Time : • Synchronize w ith computer time sets date and time according to the computer’s clock. With this op tion, date and time are set once and will not be updated automatically.

AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a System Options Link-Local IPv4 Address Link-Local Address is enabled by defau lt and assigns the Axis product an additional IP address which can be used t o access the product from other hosts on the same seg ment on the loca l network.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a System Options Note This FTP server has nothing to do with the product’s ability to transfer images via FTP to other locations and servers. RTSP The RTSP server running in the Axis product allows a connecting client to start an H.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a System Options The following traps are available: •C o l d s t a r t •W a r m s t a r t •L i n k u p • Authentication failed SNMP v3 provides encryption and secure passwords. To use traps with SNMP v3, an SNMP v3 management application is required.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a System Options If the card’s status shows as failed, click Check disk to see if the problem can be found and then try Repair . To avoid fi lling the card, it is recommended to remove recordings continuously. Under Recording Settings , select Remove recordings older than and select the number of days or weeks.

AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a System Options Advanced Scripting Scripting allows experienced use rs to customize and use their own scripts. Caution Improper use may cause unexpected behavior a nd loss of contact with the Axis product. Axis strongly recommends that you do not use this function unless y ou understand the consequences.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a System Options 2. Press and hold the Control button and reconnect power (see Hardware overview, on page 5 ). 3. Keep the Control button pressed for about 15 seconds until the Status indicator fl ashes amber. 4. Release the Control button.
AXIS P1343-E Network Camer a T r oubleshootin g Troubleshooting Checking the fi rmware Firmware is softwar e that determines the f unctionality of ne twork devices. One of y our fi rst actions when troubleshooting a problem should be to check the curr ent fi rmware version.
