7 USING THE CASSETTE DECK LOADING A CASSETTE TA P E 1. Press STOP/ EJECT to open the casset te compartment . 2. Use your finger or a pencil to turn the casset te’ s hub a nd take up any tape slack.
8 6. Press STOP/ EJECT to sto p th e tap e . Pre s s STOP/EJECT again to open the cassette compart- ment, and remove the cassette tap e . To play th e other side, tu rn the tape over, load it, and press PLA Y . Notes : • T o tempo rarily stop play , pres s P AUSE .
9 LISTENING TO ANOTHER AUDIO S OURCE If you connected another audio source to t h e syst em as described i n “Connec ting A nother Audio Sourc e,” follow these steps to l i sten to that source.
10 SINGI NG ALONG Now get ready for some fun! In this section, we tell you ho w to use y our system’s karao ke feat ures. First, set the system ’s and the source’s vol- ume controls to their minimum set- tings. Then plug t he supplie d microphone’ s 1 / 4 -inch p lug into MIC 1 or MIC 2 .

12 3. T urn on the audio source. Note: If you are using a ka raoke video casset te, turn on the TV connected t o the VCR t o see the lyrics for the song. 4. Adjust MASTER VOLUME and s et TON E to LOW or HIGH for t h e desired sound. 5. Set the supplied m icrophone’s ON/OFF switch to ON .
13 RECORDING You can record as you sing a long with the music from another audio source. You can also record only the soun d from the external a udio source. 14 RECORDING F ROM ANOTHER AUD IO SOURCE Follow these st eps to just rec ord (without add ing yo ur voice) from an audio source con nected to the sys- tem ’s AUX I NPUT jack. 1. Load a blank c assette tape, or one that y ou want t o record over , into the cassette compa rtment .

16 T APE TIPS Era sing a Ca ssette T ape To erase a previously recorded sec- tion of a tape, simply record ov er it. To erase the entire cas set te tape, let t he t a pe r ec or d si l enc e t o the end with all controls s et to their minimum settings an d the microphone(s ) turned o ff.
17 Cl ea ni ng t he T a pe -H an d lin g Pa rts Dirt, dust or particl e s of the tape’s coating can acc umulate on the t ape heads and other pa rts that the tape touches. Th is c an g reatly reduce t he perform ance of t he cassette pl ayer. Use the following cleaning procedure after every 20 hours of tape player operati on.
