15 2 AP Client: Acts as an Ethernet-to-Wireless Bridge, which allows a LAN or a single computer station (no driver installation is need) to join a wireless ESS network through it. You m ust make sure SSID and Channel is set the same as that AP you wish to connect.
3 Wireless Bridge: A pair of APs operating under Bridge m ode to act as the bridge that connect two Ethernet networks or Ethern et enabled clients together.
17 5 Repeat Mode : It is able to extend the effective ra nge and coverage of the wireless network. Please make sure the SSID is the same as that AP you want to extend. W ireless LAN is Half Duplex, so one transaction pass-th rough 2 wireless its real data-ra te will be half of normal one.
‘SuperG based’ product is availa ble. If no, the connection is via ‘normal’ G. Static turbo means it will not go back to ‘norm al’ G once it starts • Antenna Power Transmit : Select the Antenna Power transmit f or wireless interface. 3.7.
19 MAC Filter: MAC Filter function controls the MAC of the network de vices that are listed in this table for access authorization or denial. When MAC Filter is enabled, by se lecting the “ Enabled .
• Enable 802.1x security by selecting “Enable”. • If MD5 EAP method is used then you can skip step 2 and go to step 3. • Select the Encryption Key Length Size ranging from 64 to 128 Bits that you would like to use. Select the Lifetime of the Encryption Ke y from 5 Minutes to 1 Day.

APPENDIX C Glossary Access Point An interview networking device that seamlessly connects wired and wireless networks Authentication Authentication refers to the verification of a trans mitted message’s in tegrity. DMZ DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone) is a part of a network that is located between a secure LAN and an insecure WAN.
35 FTP FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is used to transf er f iles over a TCP/IP network, a nd is typically used for transferring large files or upl oading the HTML pages for a Web site to the Web server. Gateway Gateways are computers that convert protocols enabling different networks, applications, and operating systems to exchange information.
MTU MTU (Maximum Transmission/Tra nsfer Unit) is the largest packet size that can be sent over a network. Messages larger than the MTU are divided into smaller packets. NAT NAT (Network Address Translation - also known as IP masquerad ing) enab les an organization to present itself to the Intern et with one address.
37 RTS RTS (Request To Send) is a signal sent from the tr ansmitting station to the receiving station requesting permission to transmit d ata. Server Servers are typically powerful and fast machines that store program s and data. The programs and data are shared by client machines (workstations) on the network.
38 APPENDIX D Support If you have any problems with the Wire less AP, please consult this manual. If you continue to have problems you should contact the dealer where you bought this AP.
