1.0 W ARRANTY INFORMA TION P atton Electronics warrants all Model 1180 components to be free from def ects, and will—at our option—repair or replace the product should it f ail within one year from the first date of shipment.
3.0 CONFIGURA TION The Model 1180 uses a set of eight e xternal DIP switches that allow configuration to a wide r ange of applications. Because all eight s witches are in one e xternally accessible DIP package , there is no need to open the Model 1180’ s case for configuration.

4.0 INSTALLATION The Model 1180 is easy to install. After configuring the DIP s witches, simply connect the single fiber cab le, hook up the RS-232 interf ace, and plug the po wer supply adapter into the 1180. Figure 4 shows the location of the interf ace connections on the Model 1180 rear panel.
5.0 OPERATION Once you ha v e configured each Model 1180 properly (see Section 3.0) and connected the fiber and RS-232 cables (see Section 4.0), y ou are ready to operate the units . This section describes reading the LED status monitors, po wer-up and using the b uilt-in loopback test modes .
