3.0 CONFIGUR ATIO N This section describes the hardware and software configuratio n switches and jumpers, and provides detailed instructions for all possibl e settings.
3.1.2 Configuration Switch Set “S1 ” The configuration switches on S1 allow you to specify the dat a rate, async/sync data format, transmit clock source and response t o RDL request.
Switch S1-8: Response to Remote Loo p Reques t Use Switch S1-8 to allow the Model 1092ARC to enter the Remot e Digital Loopback diagnostic test when requested to do so by the far en d modem. For example, when Switch S1-8 is set to “ON”, it will ente r RDL mode (See Section 5.
Switch S5-2: 2-Wire/4-Wir e Use Switch S5-2 to configure 2-Wire or 4-Wire operation . MAIN MENU Option 1: Display Active Configuratio n Select Option 1 to display the most recent configuration of the loca l Model 1092ARC (See below). The Model 1092ARC uses the activ e configuration for its operation. If you make changes to th e configuration, you must select MAIN MENU Option 8.

7. DTE Controlled Remote Digital Loo p Select Option 7 in the SOFTWARE CONFIGUR A TIO N Menu t o enable DTE control of the Remote Digital Loop Menu (See below). Th e Remote Digital Loop on the 1092ARC can be controlled from the DT E interface by selecting Enable (Option 1).
To run or terminate a particular test, key in the option to get to tha t screen menu. T est Mode options 2,3,7,8 and 9 require the 1092ARC to be in Dat a Mode with the remote 1092ARC. The Model 1092ARC Test Mode s are described below: OF F Terminates all test s 51 1 Initiates the built-in test pattern generator and detector .
3.3.1 Mode l 1001RCM12545 Rear Card Strap Setting s Figure 6 shows strap locations for the Model 1001RCM1254 5 (DB-25/RJ-45S) rear cards. These straps determine various groundin g characteristics for the terminal interface and twisted pair lines. JB3 an d JB4 are user configurable.
The table below provides an overview of interface strap function s for the rear interface cards. Following the table overview are detaile d descriptions of each strap’s function . DTE Shield (DB-15 Pin 1) & FRGND (JB3 ) In the connected position, this strap links DB-15 pin 1 & fram e ground.
4.0 INS TALLATIO N This section describes the functions of the Model 1001R14 rac k chassis, tells how to install front and rear Model 1092ARC Series card s into the chassis, and how to connect to the twisted pair interface an d the serial interface . 4.
4.3.2 Connect to a “DCE” Devic e Since the Model 1092ARC’s serial port is always wired as a DCE , you must use a null mode m cable when connecting to another DC E device such as a CSU/DSU, modem or multiplexer. This cable shoul d be of the shortest possible length that is appropriate to the interface yo u are using.
5.0 OPER ATIO N Once the Model 1092ARC is properly configured and installed, i t should operate transparentl y . This sections describes functions of th e LED status indicators, and the use of the built-in loopback test modes.
To perform an LLB test, follow these steps : 1 . Activate LLB. This may be done in one of three ways: - Move the front panel toggle switch to the right to “Local”. - Raise the LLB signal on the interface (see Appendix B). - Set Local Loop from the VT100 screen .
