Introduction The OMS-820 is a compan i on modu le to the MOTM-820 voltage controlled la g pro cessor. I t adds powerful new features to the superb Sy nthe s is Tech nolog y modu le.

Of course, the speed a t wh ic h the process repea ts is set by the UP and DOW N pots . You can get very fa st at a round 1000 c omp lete cy c le s a second, and you can get ver y slow .
In GATED mode, remov i ng the gate wi l l reset the fl ip - f lop . The AUTO swit ch in its UP positio n wi l l pass a n in ve rted gate sig na l t o a second di ff e re ntia tor, C5, R22 and D4. Whe n a gate sig na l is removed, the positi ve goin g edg e runs through U 4 (pin s 1,2,3 & 11,12,13) and D4 to reset the fl i p- flo p.

U4 is a 4001 devic e, and is part of the cla ss i c 4000 series of CMOS log ic. Many compan ie s mak e thi s dev ice and as such the devi ce ends up hav in g al l sor ts of nam es . eg. CD4001, MC14001, 4001BE. Al l types shou l d work but t ry to avoid the 4001UBE, this is an ol der devi ce and i s ver y prone t o static damag e.

The sm al l e r ele ctrolyt ic capac itors are very often suppli e d with 0.1” lea d spac i ng. My boards hav e a hole spac i ng of 0.2”. This me an s that the undersid e of these radial capacitors wi ll not go fl at ont o the board. This is del ib e rate to all ow the water wash to wo rk, so don’t force the part in to o hard.
Al l you ne ed to do is e-mai l the fpd f i l e t o Schae ff er i n Germ an y , or Frontpanel Express in the US, and the y do the rest. You can als o use the Frontplatten Desi gn er progr am' s own onli n e ordering procedu re whic h also works very we ll .

do muc h on its own, but if it start s to smoke or of an yth i ng gets hot then yo u’ ve done someth i ng wrong. Now to wire the int erconn ect. You need a 4-way 0.1” fem al e plug. These are normal l y desi gne d t o be crim p ed but t hey can be easi l y s olde red with care.
Testing Sin ce there are t wo sections , we wil l test each one in turn. The easi est and the best t o test fir st is the LFO fun ctio n. Si mp l y fli p the LFO/EG switch in to the LFO mode. Set all the UP and DOWN po ts to their m i n i m u m , and ma ke sure the MOTM’s b ypa ss fu nct ion is off.
