Installation and connection When using y our gas appliance f ollow basic safety precautions in - cluding the f ollowing: Read all instructions before using for the first time. Be certain your appliance is prop - erly installed and grounded by a qualified technician.
Correct usage Do not operate the cooktop until it is properly installed in the countertop. This appliance is intended for resi - dential cooking only . Use the appliance only for its in - tended purpose. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for dam - ages caused by improper use of the cooktop.
Pr otection fr om damage Do not use a steam cleaner to clean the appliance. Steam could penetrate electrical components and cause a short circuit. Spills containing salt or sugar should be removed immediately , to prevent stains.
P er sonal safety The burners become ver y hot when in use. Make sure that no one comes in contact with the bur ners. Children should not be left alone or unattended in an area wher e the appliance is in use. They should never be allowed to sit or stand on any par t of the appliance.
Damage to the appliance In the event of damage or a defect, turn off the appliance immediately . T urn off the gas shut off valve, and dis - connect completely from the electricity supply . Contact the Miele T echnical Service Department. Do not use the appliance until it has been repair ed.
Disposal of pac king materials The cardboar d box and packing materi - als are biodegradable and r ecyclable. Please recycle. Cleaning and heating f or the first time This appliance must be cleaned before using for the first time. ^ W ash the gas burner assembly in a mild solution of water and liquid dish soap. Wipe dry and reassemble them in the proper or der (see the "Cleaning and care" section).
F ast-Ignition-System The gas cooktops are equipped with a Fast-Ignition-System incorporating the following features: – The control knob can be r eleased im - mediately after ignition of the flame. – If the flame goes out during use, e.g. from a draft, the burner will automati - cally be relight.
T urning on: ^ T o light a burner press down and tur n the corresponding contr ol knob coun - ter -clockwise to the largest flame symbol. The ignitor will click and ig - nite the gas. Release the knob. The ignition process lasts max. 4 sec - onds. The flame should light within this time.
P ans P an size – Set the cooktop to a high flame when using a large diameter pan and low flame when using small diameter pans. – Generally , wide / shallow pans will heat up quicker and cook more evenly than narrow / tall ones.
Safety cut-out f eature This appliance is equipped with an igni - tion safety control. This contr ol cuts the gas supply if the flame goes out and re-ignition is unsuccessful. ^ T o re-ignite the burner , turn the con - trol knob to " ß ", then follow the pr oce - dure outlined in "T ur ning on and of f, Regulating".
Under no circumstances use a steam cleaner to clean this cooktop. Pressurized steam could cause per - manent damage to the surface and to components for which the manu - facturer cannot accept r esponsibility . Do not use any sharp or pointed ob - jects which could damage the seal between the frame and the countertop.
Cleaning the b urners The burners can be dismantled and cleaned when cold. ^ Remove the burner par ts and wash them in a solution of hot water and liquid dish soap. Dry them thor - oughly . Make sure that the flame holes are clean and completely dry .
Reassemble the w ok b urner as f ol - lows: ^ Place the burner head, d , on to the burner base, e . ^ Fit the burner ring, c . ^ Fit the large burner cap, b , on to the burner head, d . ^ Seat the small burner cap, a . ^ Put the grates in place. Make sure that the parts of the burner are reassembled in the cor- rect or der after cleaning.
All repairs should be performed by a trained technician in strict accor - dance with national and local codes. Any repairs or maintenance per - formed by unqualified personnel could be dangerous. Some minor problems can be fixed without a service call.
