- 4 - 1. Introduction ______ Congratulations on purch asing the Broadband Router. This Broadband Router, is a high quality and reliable Internet routing device, enables multiple us ers to share the Broadband Internet co nnection through a Cable or DSL modem.

- 7 - 2. PC Configuration _ _ _ _ User needs to configure TCP/IP network settings, Inte rnet acce ss configuration for ea ch system within the Broadband Router’s LAN netwo rk. By default, the Broad bnad Router acts as a DHCP server for server version of Windows, it automatically assigns IP address to each system when system s boot up.

- 12 - 3. Setup Broadband Router Configurations via Web Browser The Broadband Router comes with a web-based configuration utilit y. Users can access this configuration utility from any of client system within Broadband Router ’s LAN. For best results, either use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.
- 13 - 3.2 Quick Setup Quick Setup will help you setup the Broadband Router quickly. Th ere have six types of WAN Connections: Dynamic IP Address, Static IP, PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP, and BigPond. When configure the Quick Setup wizard, you ca n setup Host Settin gs, such a s Ho st name, Time Zon e, and Daylight Saving as below.
- 14 - 3.3 Administrator 3.3.1 Management Use this page to restrict management access ba sed on a specific password. Passwo rds can contain from 4-12 alphanumeri c characters, and are case sensitive. Idle Time-out - The amount of time of inactivity before t he Broadband Route r will aut omatically close the Administrator session.
- 15 - 3.3.2 System Settings The System Settings window configure s broadband router basic settings, such as router’ s Host Name, Set Time Zone, Daylight Saving and Operation Mode. NTP Server (IP or Domain Name): Enter a Domain Name if it was provid ed by the ISP Time Zone: Select the time zone of the country you are currently in.
- 16 - 3.3.4 Configuration Use this window to restore or backup b roadband router settings, su ch as Restore Factory Def ault, Backup Settings and Restore Settings. The Fa ctory Default settings are: “Username : admin ”, “Password : admin ”, “IP: 192.
- 17 - 3.3.5 Tools If for any reason the device is not responding correctly, you may want to restart the unit by clicking on the Reboot button. 3.3.6 Language Specify the language of the device menu. The tw o languages are supported i n this router: English and Traditional Chinese .
- 18 - 3.3.8 Logout Click Logout in the task bar to initiate broadband rout er logout process. 3.4 WAN Specify the WAN connection mode required by your Internet Service P rovider, then click " OK " Button to provide detailed configuration paramet er s for the selected connection type.
- 19 - DHCP: Obtain an IP address automatically from the ISP. MAC Address Clone: You can use the “ Clone MAC Addr ess ” button to copy the MAC address of the Ethernet Card installed by your ISP and replace the WAN MAC addres s with this MAC address.
- 20 - (c) PPPoE PPP over Ethernet is a common connection method used for xDSL. User Name and Password: Enter the User Name and Pa ssword you use when logging onto your IS P through a PPPoE or PPTP connection. Service Name: optional. Input the service name if your ISP requires it.
- 21 - PPTP: The Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP ) is a method for implementing virtual private network. Server: Specify IP Address of the PPTP Server. IP Address and Subnet Mask : the private IP address and su bnet mask your ISP assigned to you.
- 22 - L2TP Mode: The Layer two Tunneling Protocol (L2 TP) is a method for implementing virtual private network. Server: Specify IP Address of the L2TP Server. (f) BigPond BigPond is an Australian internet servi ce pr ovider and is a subsidiary of Telstra.
- 23 - Password: Enter the Password is provided by your ISP. This field is case -sensitive. Server IP: Enter the authenticating serv er IP address or host name. MTU: The normal MTU (Maximum Transmit Unit) value fo r most Ethernet networks is 1500 bytes.
- 24 - 3.5.2 DHCP Client List The DHCP client list allows you to see which clie nts are conn ected to the Broadban d Router via IP address, host name, and MAC addre ss. Y ou can select static to fix it. DHCP Client List: This page shows all DHCP clients (LAN P Cs) currently connected to your network.
- 25 - Enabled: Enable the Virtual Server option. Private IP: This is the LAN clie nt/host IP address that the Public Port number packet will be sent to.
- 26 - Enable: Enable the Port Triggering function. Trigger Port: This is the out going (Outbound) rang e of por t numbers for this particular application. Trigger Type: Select whether the outbo und port protocol is “ TCP ”, “ UDP ” or “ Both ”.
- 27 - Enabled: Enable the Port Mapping function. Comment: The description of this setting. Server IP: Enter the NAT server IP address. Mapping Ports: Enter the port address NAT se rver maps to. Typ e: Select the Inbound port protocol type: “ TCP ”, “ UDP ” or “ Both ”.
- 28 - [VPN] PPTP Passthrough: PPTP is a protocol that allows corporat ions to extend their own corporate net work through private “tunnels” over the publi c Interne t.
- 29 - Enable: Enable/disable DMZ. (Default: Disable) Public IP Address: The IP address of the WAN port or any other Public IP addr esses given to you by your ISP.

For example, this screen shows th at clients in the address range 192.16 8.2.50-99 are permanently restricted from using FTP (Port 21), whil e clients in t he address range 192.

Default is “ Disable URL Filter Function ”. 3.7.4 MAC Filtering The MAC address filer let user to allow or block certain client PCs accessing the Internet ba sed on MAC address.
- 32 - 3.8 Routing 3.8.1 Routing Table The routing table displays the curr ent routing inform ation in system. 3.8.2 Static Routing A static route is a pre-determined pathw ay that netwo rk information must tr avel to reach a specific host or network.

- 34 - 3.9.2 DDNS DDNS (Dynamic DNS) p rovides you on the Internet with a metho d to tie their domain name to a compute r or server. DDNS allows your domain name to follo w your IP address autom atic ally by having your DNS records changed when your IP addre ss changes.
