Chapter 1. Overview The PCI-X Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI RAID Adapter is a 133 MHz 64-bit PCI-X adapter . It allows you to connect SCSI hard disk drives in RAID 0, 5 and 10 configurations to system units with a Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) bus.
If the AIX or Linux operating system is installed on a disk array , the RAID disk array may be used as the boot source. Yo u may receive this adapter preinstalled in a hot-swap carrier for use in certain system types. This carrier allows the adapter to be installed and removed without removing the top cover of the system.
Chapter 2. Preparing for Installation This chapter helps you prepare to install the PCI-X Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI RAID Adapter . Preparing to install the adapter involves the following tasks: v Che.
Determining Y our Cable Requirements Yo u must use the correct SCSI cables to properly attach SCSI hard disk drives and subsystems. If you install an Ultra320 SCSI hard disk drive or subsystem that can transfer data at up to 320 MB/s, the maximum cable length is limited to 20 meters (approximately 60 feet).
Chapter 3. Installing the Device Driver Software (AIX) The instructions in this chapter pertain to the AIX operating system. Note: If you are using the Linux operating system, see Chapter 7, “Instal.
