Part 1: Installation and user ’ s guide The IBM 72 W DC Power Adapter charges your IBM ThinkPad computer as an ac adapter does. It enables you to provide power to your mobile computer using either a.
Using the power adapter Y ou can connect the power adapter to an automobile cigar ette-lighter socket or to a 4-pin power receptacle in an EMPOWER in-flight power system. Connecting the power adapter to a cigarette-lighter socket T o use the power adapter with a cigar ette-lighter socket, use the following steps.
Step 2 Insert the larger , electricity-sour ce connector into the cigarette-lighter socket. The green light emitting diode (LED) on the adapter box lights up when the adapter cable is plugged into an active power source. Y ou might need to start the automobile engine to supply power to your computer .
Connecting the power adapter to an EMPOWER power system T o use the power adapter with a 4-pin power r eceptacle in an EMPOWER in-flight power system, use the following steps. Step 1 Insert the smaller , yellow-tipped connector into the power connector of your ThinkPad computer .
Step 3 Insert the 4-pin connector into the 4-pin power receptacle. The gr een light emitting diode (LED) on the adapter box lights up when the adapter cable is plugged into an active power source. If the LED does not light up, make sur e that the flight crew has turned on the EMPOWER system.
