PCM-9 575 User’s Ma nual 12 2.5 Sett i ng Jumpers Y ou may configur e your card to m atch the needs of you r application by setting jumpers. A jump er is a metal bridge used to close an electric cir- cuit. It consists of two metal pins and a small metal clip (often protected by a plastic cover ) that slides over the p ins to connect them.
13 Chapter 2 Installatio n 2.6 Cle ar CMOS (JP4 ) This jumper is us ed to erase CMOS data and r eset system BIOS informa- tion. The procedur e for clearing CMOS is: 1. T urn off t he system. 2. Short p in 2 and pin 3 . 3. Return jump er to pins 1 and 2 .
PCM-9 575 User’s Ma nual 14 2.7 In stalling DI MMs The procedure for installing DIMMs is described below . Please follow these steps carefully . The number of pins are d ifferent o n either side of the breaks, so the mod ule can only fit in one way .
15 Chapter 2 Installatio n (See your hard d rive’ s documen tation for the location o f the con- nector .) If desired, conne ct a second drive as described above.
PCM-9 575 User’s Ma nual 16 If you are con necting a 3.5” floppy drive, yo u may have tro uble determi n- ing whic h pin is num ber one. Look for a number prin t ed on the circuit board indi cating pin num ber one. In addition, t he connector on t he flop py drive may have a slo t.
17 Chapter 2 Installatio n them. The f ront panel co nnector (CN 13) is an 8- pin male, dual in-li ne header . It provides connections for a s p eaker , hard disk acces s indicator , watchdog output, and an input switch for resetting the card.
PCM-9 575 User’s Ma nual 18 2.16 IR connector (CN24) This connector supports the optional wireless infrared transmitting and receiving module. This module mounts on the system case.
19 Chapter 2 Installatio n 2.17.1 Audio connector (CN4) The PCM-95 75 provides all maj o r audio signals on a 16- pin flat-cable connector , CN4. These audio sign als include Microphone in (mono) , Line in (stereo ), Line out ( s tereo), an d Speaker out (stereo) .
PCM-9 575 User’s Ma nual 20 2.19 VGA/LCD/L VDS interface connections The PCM-9575’ s PCI SVGA interface can drive conventional C R T dis- plays and i s capable of driving a w ide range o f flat panel di splays, includ- ing passive LCD and active LCD dis plays.
21 Chapter 2 Installatio n S1 is an 8 segment DIP switch for DSTN/TF T panel type and resolution functions . 2.20 TV-out interface (optional) (CN1) The PCM-9575 board provides opt ional TV-o ut via CN1.
PCM-9 575 User’s Ma nual 22 2.21 Ethernet configuration The PCM-95 75 is equipped wi th a high pe rformance 32- bit PCI-bus Ethernet interface which is fully compliant with IEEE 802.3U 10/ 100Mbps C SM A/CD standards. It is s upporte d by all maj or network operatin g system s.
23 Chapter 2 Installatio n involves one jumper an d running the con trol software (refer to Appendix A). 2.22.1 W atchdog t i mer action (JP5) When the watchdog timer activates ( C PU processing has come to a halt), it can reset the system or generate an interrupt on IRQ1 1.
