1 Use your HP Bluetooth Adapter for printing The HP Bluetoot h Adapter wi reless printer adap ter uses Blue tooth wirele ss technology to allow you to print with out using a cable. In genera l, Bluetooth w ireless techn ology is a short-range wireless techno logy that allo ws connecti on between de vices without requiring a cabl e.

HP Blueto oth Adapterd evice addre ss Bluetooth de vices have a unique d evice addre ss that cannot be changed. The follow ing are gene ral instructions for finding your pr inter or all-in -one's Bluetooth device address. Consult the documentation fo r your printer or all-in-one for specific instructions.
Follow these i nstructions to print f rom the imag ing or camera so ftware. 1. From the i maging ap plication , sele ct Send vi a Bluetooth . 2. The phone sear ches for Bluetooth devi ces. Select the printer yo u want to use. 3. If you are pro mpted for a Pa sskey, enter i t.
NOTE: If your compute r does not support either of these methods, co nsult your computer documenta tion for help pri nting with Bluetoo th. This procedure is for t he HP or Widcomm sta ck. 1. Click the My Blue tooth Place s icon on your desktop o r in the Task Bar.

2 Use your HP Bluetooth Adapter with your computer The Bluetoo th® wireless techn ology provides sh ort-range wire less commun ications tha t replace the physical cable co nnections that traditionally li nk electronic devices. • Network access points • Computers (deskt op, notebook, PDA, etc.
Install the softw are 1. Insert the CD. The Configura tion Wizard should start automat ically. If it d oes not, brow se to your CD and double-click setup.exe . 2. Follow the i nstructions o n the screen. 3. Plug in the HP Bluetooth Adapter wh en requested.
• Access My Blu etooth Places : D ouble-click the Bl uetooth icon , or right-cli ck the Bluetooth ico n and then select Explore My Bl uetooth Places .
Device Ico ns Devices are physical things, su ch as computers, cameras, headsets, etc. Devices can be represented by icons in My Bluet ooth Places. Each type of device is represented by a different icon. The device icons have three states as described bel ow: Normal : Devices that are present in the vicinity are represented by a plain icon.
NOTE: A service may be unavailable because it (or the required hardware) is in use, or because th e requir ed hardware is not installed. Exam ple: i f the f ax mode m is bus y, or not installed, then the fax service will be unavailable, even though Bluetooth supports that service.
Basic operations This section pro vides inform ation on u sing the basi c Bluetooth f unctions. Start or stop Bluetooth To start B luetooth : In the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar, right-click the Bluetooth icon and select Start th e Bluetooth Device .
Create a connectio n from My Blu etooth Places 1. From Windows Explore r, in the Folders pa ne, select My Bluetooth Places , and then select View devi ces in range . 2. In the right pane of My Bluetooth Pl aces, right-cli ck a device name, and then select Connect .

▲ To access the Connecti on Status dialog box, i n My Bluetooth Places , select a device, and then, in the right pane of M y Bluetooth Places, right-click a service name and select Status from the shortcut menu. The Inform ation provided is as follow s: • Status : Connect ed or Not C onnected.
To use Send to Blue tooth (except Inter net Explorer) 1. Select the item to transfer as liste d below: • Windows Explore r: Select one or more files to be transferred. Folders cannot be transf erred. • Microsoft Office: Only the document in the active w indow can be tra nsferred.
How this comput er uses a service that is pr ovided by a remote device is co nfigured on the Client Appl ications tab of the Bluetooth confi guration pa nel. Blueto oth exchan ge folder This is the highest -level directory on this com puter to which a remote Blueto oth device has access.
1. Open the conf iguration pa nel using one of these methods. • In the Not ification area, at the far right o f the taskbar, right-click t he Bluetooth i con and select Advanced Configuration from the shortcut menu or • From Windows Co ntrol Panel, sel ect Bluetoot h Configur ation .

▲ Open a connect ion to a Bluetooth Human Interface D evice using one of these techniques: • From My Bluetoo th Places • Using the Bluetooth Setup Wizard • Once a HID con nection is establishe d, that connection will persi st.

NOTE: Most Bluetoo th headsets ring when a co nnection is at tempted; a nswer the ring to complete the connection and begin using t he headset as the audi o input/outp ut device for this computer.
The data item typ es that can be synchronized are: Business cards • Calendar i tems • E-mail (with or without atta chments-see below ) • Notes Possible synchronizat ion options f or each of these data item types include: • Do Not Synchronize : This item type will not be synchronized.
To configure faxing ▲ On the Client Applicatio ns tab, select Fax and click the Properties button. The Properties d ialog allows you to configure th e following: • The applica tion name: To chan ge it, highli ght the exist ing name and enter the ne w name.
To configure fi le transfer ▲ On the Client Ap plication s tab, select File Transfer and click the Properties button. The Properties di alog allows you to co nfigure the follow ing: • The applicat ion name: T o change it, hi ghlight th e existing name and ent er the new name.
• How your b usiness card is handle d when it is requested by a remote device: The Send My Busi ness Card options are: • Choose a business card as ne eded: Each time a remote device req uests your business card you must sele ct a card fr om your PIM.
Configure Dial-up Netwo rking ▲ On the Client Applications tab , select Dial-up Networking and click the P roperties button. The Properties di alog allows you to co nfigure the follow ing: • The applicat ion name: T o change it, hi ghlight th e existing name and ent er the new name.
Create a B luetooth Ser ial Port Connec tion Establish a connect ion using on e of these techniques: • Notifica tion ar ea, at the far right of the taskb ar, Bluet ooth icon • From My Bluet ooth P.
• Service Name: The de fault name of each service can be chang ed. • Secure Connecti on: Requires t hat remote device s provide proof of identit y and that all data be encrypted. • Startup Automat ically: Start s the service automa tically whe n Bluetooth is started.

Bluetoot h Serial Port The Bluetooth Seri al Port service enables a re mote Bluetoo th device to establish a wireless serial connection with this computer. The wi reless serial connection may b e used by applicatio ns as though a physical serial cable connected th e devices.
• Select the physical modem t o be used from the Mod ems - shortcut menu. • Set the common co nfiguration properti es of the service, an d then click OK. Fax Service The Fax service allows a rem ote Blueto oth device to se nd a Fax via a modem th at is physically attached to this computer .
• Send To • 3 ½ floppy (A) - sends the selected file to the 3 ½ inch floppy drive on this compu ter • Public Folder on My Device : Sends the selected file to the Public Fol der on this computer. • Rename: Applies only t o empty folders; fil e names and the names o f folders that contain object s cannot be changed using thi s technique.
The Head set Service now monitors th e phone and di splays a notif ication b alloon over the Bluetoot h icon in the No tification a rea, at the far right of t he taskbar when a n incoming call is detected .
1. Configure Bluet ooth: Right-cl ick the Bluetoot h icon in t he notifica tion area, sele ct Advanced Config uration, and t hen a . From the Lo cal Services tab, select Ne twork Access, and then click Properties.
NOTE: PIMs that are no t installed on this computer wi ll not appea r in the shortcut menus. When the PIM that is associ ated with an individual d ata type is changed on the PIM Item Transfer page, that data type is also changed fo r the PIM Synchroni zation service.
Change the Selected PI M On the PIM It em Transfer propert ies page, Received it ems section, there is a Business Cards shortcut me nu. When a PIM wa s selected durin g initial setup the selected item in this menu was set to the same PIM. To change th e PIM used for the de fault business card, open this shortcut menu and se lect a new PIM.
Hardware settings The Hardware tab of the Blu etooth C onfigurati on Panel provides basic informa tion about the Bluetoot h hardware i nstalled on th is computer and a ccess to the Ad vanced Settings dialog box, i f required: • Devices: • Name: The nam e of the device, e.
Click Apply to implement the cha nges. A dialog box i s displayed w ith notif ication t hat the Bluetooth device a ttached to this compu ter must be reset bef ore the change(s) wil l take effect . Click Yes t o reset the Bluetoot h device now. All open Blue tooth connect ions will be closed.
To delete a device f rom the list: ▲ In the list of devices allowed t o access this computer, select the device to be removed from the l ist, and th en click De lete.
Temporari ly Override the Discovery o f Specific D evices In the Bluet ooth Conf iguration Pan el, from t he Discovery tab, select Report a ll Bluetoot h devices. The specifica lly selected devices will be discovered al ong with all o ther devices. To re-enable specific device discovery, re-select Repo rt Only Selected Bluetooth Devices.
NOTE: The devices must be paired. 1. From My Bluetooth Places, right-c lick a paired de vice, select Properti es, and then the Authorizatio n tab. 2. Select the services i n the list box for whic h Authorization will NOT be required, and then click OK.
If there are no d uplicate files, t he Authorizat ion balloon is displayed on t he server immediately. To Pair with Another Device 1. If Secure Connecti on is enabled, the first time two devices attem pt to connect, a prompt to pai r the devices is displa yed.
