1. Insert the HP Photosmart CD that came with the scanner into the computer CD drive. For Windows in stallations: Wait for the installat ion di alog box to di splay. If the installation dial og box does not display after a few moments, see Scanner installation trouble shooting on page 7 .
Step 4. Connect the USB cable Caution If you are installing in a Windo ws environment, be sure you install the HP Photosmart soft ware before connecting the scanner to your computer with the USB cable.
