C omponent installa tion The following se ctions contain installa tion instructions f or the individua l enclosure component s. All components must be insta lled and ca bled before you power up the en closure.

Installation 31 I nstalling blades The c7000 enclosu re is divided into four quadrants by the vertical support metal wo rk. Within each quadrant, a removable divider supports half - height blades . To install a full - height blade in any quadrant, this divider must be re moved.
Installation 32 1. Remove the blank. 2. Remove the t hree adjac ent blanks. 3. Remove the d evice bay she lf (" Remo vi ng a device bay she lf " on page 34 ).
Installation 33 5. Prepare the blade for installation. 6. Install the blade. CAUTION: To preve nt improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the blade or the enclosure unless al l drive and device bays are po pulated with either a component or a blank .

Push the device bay shelf back until it s tops, lift the right side slightly to disengage the two tabs from the divider wall, and then rotate the right e d ge downwa rd (clockwise). 4. Lift the left side of the devi ce bay shelf to disengag e the three tabs fr om the divider wall, a nd then remove it fro m the enclos ure.
Installation 36 2. Fit the coupler plate into the slots on top of the blank, and then slide the coupler plate back until it snaps into place. 3. Fit the slots on the bottom of the second blank on to the tabs on the coupler plate, and then slide the second blank forwar d until it snaps in place.
Installation 37 Installing a half - hei ght blade 1. Remove the blank. 2. Install the device bay shelf, if applicable. 3. Install the blade in the empty bay. I nstalling a dev ice bay shelf You must install the device bay shelf to suppor t half - height devices.
Installation 38 1. Remove the f ull - height blade, storage blade, or device bay bl ank. 2. To unlock device bay shelf locking tab, slide it to the left.
Installation 39 3. Tilt the shelf at an angle with the left e dge up. Align the three tabs on the left edge of the shelf wit h the openings in the enclosure, and then push the devi ce bay shelf up.

Installation 43 1. Tu rn the handle counterclockwise to the unlock position, and pull the fan or f an blank from the enclosure. 2. Slide the fan into the enclosure until it locks in place. NOTE: When installing a fan in the top row of fan bays, orient the fan so that the LED is in the lower right corner.
Installation 44 To remove a fan, turn the handle counterclockwise to the unlock position, and pull the fan out of the enclosure. I nstalling Onboard Administrator modules The HP BladeSystem c7 000 Enc.
Installation 45 b. Pull the handle, and slide the Onboard A dministrator blank out of the Onboard Administrator tray. 2. Slide the Onboard Adminis trator module into the Onboard A dministrator tray, and close the handle. When the Onboard Administrator mod ule is fully insert ed, it locks into pla ce.
Installation 46 3. Connect a USB mouse ( 2 ) and k eyboard ( 3 ) to the USB hub ( 4 ). To connect the HP Onboa rd Administrat or with KVM to an HP S erver Console Switch or an H P IP Console Switch: 1. Connect the KVM interface adapter ( 2 ) to the VGA c onnector ( 4 ) and the USB connector ( 3 ) on the HP Onboard Administra tor with KVM.
Installation 47 IMPORTANT: If the mezzanine c ard is not installed properly or the interconnect module installation does not coin cide with the mezzanine card installation, the ports on the interconnect module will not fun ction. NOTE: For more inf ormation on how and where to install mezzanin e cards, see the server - spe cific user guid e.

HP BladeSystem Insight Di splay 66 through the process of correcting the errors. The Installation Wizard automatically turns on the enclosure UID at the beginning of the installation and tu rns it off after the installation is complete. The Enclosure Settings screen is the first screen to appear.
