6 I NTRODUCTION Maintenance Smudges and dirt on the unit' s window can inter fere with the unit's performa nce. If the window requires clean ing, use only a mild gla s s clean er containing no ammonia. W hen clean ing th e window , spray the clea ner onto a lint f ree, non - abrasive cl eaning cloth t hen gent ly w ipe the w indow clean.
7 I NSTALLATION RS232 or Light Pen 1. Turn off the host device. 2. Plug the m ale 10 - pin R J45 end of the Pow erLink cable into the 10 - pin sock et on th e MS3780. 3. Connect th e 9 - pin female end of the PowerLink c able to the appro priate communicat ion port on the host devi ce.

9 I NSTALLATION Keyboard Wedge 1. Turn off the host device. 2. Plug the m ale 10 - pin R J45 end of the PowerLink c able into the 1 0 - pin socket on the M S3780. 3. Disconnect t he keyboard fro m the host device. 4. Connect th e “Y” end of the P owerLink cable to the keyboard and th e keyboar d port on the host PC.
10 I NSTALLATION Stand - Alone Keyboard 1. Turn off the host device. 2. Plug the m ale 10 - pin R J45 end of the Pow erLink cable into the 10 - pin sock et on th e MS3780. 3. Connect th e other end of th e PowerLink cabl e to the keyboard port on the host device.

13 S CANNER O PERATION The Scan Pattern Mode Select Button There are tw o configurable s can pattern mod es available w ith the MS3780. • The primary scan pattern mo de is the default scan patte rn active when t he scanner start s. By default, the primary sc an pattern is se t to all - scan - li nes for omnid irectional r eading.

15 S CANNER O PERATION A udibl e Indicators When the M S3780 is in operat ion, it can prov ide audible fee dback. These sounds ind ic ate th e status of the scanner. E ight settings are available for the tone of th e beep (normal, six alternate to nes and no tone) .
16 S CANNER O PERATION Visual Indicator s There are fo ur LEDs locate d on the t op of th e MS3780. W he n the scanner is on, the flashing or constant il lumination of t he LEDs in dicates the stat us of the current scan and the scanner.
