1 Introduction This is the GE Legend User Manual . It provides an overview of the produc t and detailed instructions explaining how to program and operate all models. There is also informatio n describing how to contact technical supp ort if you have questions or concerns.
Legend User Manual 2 Overview The Legend™ dome is prog rammed through a grap hi cal programming interface. The end-user ’ s system administrator and/or the installer will do t he programming. Be aware that th e installer would have turned on the passcodes for the system during installation, if th ey were to be used during normal operation.
3 Accessing the programming interface If passcodes were turned on during in stallation or later, access to the programming interface will be passcode- protected. Y ou must log on to program t he dome. Ot herwise, you will be take n directly to the main programming screen.
Legend User Manual 4 4. At the enter site numb er display , enter the number for the camera site you are programming. This is a 3-digit number (for example, 007, 02 1, 243). Y ou can enter one, two, or three digits and press set ( ). F igure 7. Ente r site numbe r display 5.
5 Navigating the programming inter face While in the programming interface, the joystick of yo ur keypad op erates in two mod es depending upon wh at your current action is. While mo ving amo ng the menu s of the programming interface, the joystick is a simulated mouse and you enter commands using the joystick.
Legend User Manual 6 Keypad shortcuts The following are keypad shortcut commands carried over from CyberDome programming. Where keypad shortcuts exist for a feature, such as setting presets, you ca n use keys from the keypad, instead of menus from the programming interface, to program the feature.
7 Basic programming The dome is ready to operate with its defaults. Presets and ShadowT ours are the most commonly used programmable features. This section provides the step -by-step instructions for programming presets and ShadowT ours.

9 ShadowTours Y ou have a total of 16 Shado wT ours (totaling 20 minutes) that you can define for the dome. A ShadowT our is a tour that the camera learns by recording your manual operation of the camera. Use a keypad to manually direct the camera through the desired P TZ movement s.
Legend User Manual 10 Advanced pr ogramming Y ou will be using the graphical programming interf ace to program the dome. Keypad shortcuts do exist for some programmable features. These keypad commands are carried over from CyberDome programming (see Keypad shortc uts on page 6).
11 F igure 1 6. Me mor y sc re en ( Setup | Memory ) Passcode screen ( Setup | Passcode ) Y ou can control who has access to the features of y our dome by distributing passcodes that allow varying degrees of access. The dome ships with no default p asscodes.
Legend User Manual 12 Y ou can turn on one installer passc ode, one admin passcode, and one operator passcode. They have the following permissions: • Installer : The installer passcode allows access to all dome features. • Admin : The admin passco de allows acce ss to all dome features, except passcodes and firmware updates.

Legend User Manual 14 Network screen ( Setup | Network ) The Network screen establishes the IP addressing for a networ k connection that you can use to flash software upgrades over a standard IP connection to the dome via its Ethernet connection. F igur e 19.
15 Preferences scr e en ( Setup | Preferences ) The Pr eferences screen establishes the systemwide features of la nguage and the display of the ca mera’ s spatial coordinates.
Legend User Manual 16 Coordinates page ( Setup | Pr eferences | C oordinates ) Y ou can display the dome’ s pan, tilt, or zoom coord inates on the monitor scre en, if desired. Y ou can display any or all of the coordinates. Y ou can also choose how to dis play eac h one.
17 Pan The Pan feature displays the pan coord inate of the dome. Choices are Off, Bearings, Degree s 360 (default), and Degrees +/- 180. F igure 22. Pan coordinates Tilt The T ilt feature displays the tilt coordinate of the dome. Choices are Off, Degrees 180 (default), and Degrees +/ - 90.
Legend User Manual 18 Set north The Set north button programs the north (0°) point for the camera. Note: When using bearings f or yo ur pan co or dinat es, they ar e easier to int erpret if you set the true due north point as the 0° point . If, however , you are using degr ee pan coordinates, you can set the 0° point an ywhere along the scal e.
19 Camera menu The dome is ready to operate with its default settings. Th e defaults are optimized for general applications. Y ou can customize the dome’ s performance for challeng ing applications by changing the do me’ s camera features in the Camera menu.

21 Mask color Y ou can customize the color of each m ask. Individual masks will appear on screen in the color selected. Choices are Gray (default) and Red. Show The Show button displays the mask that is currently se lected by the mask number field. The screen will say “Priva cy mask preview” in the upper left corner .

23 White balance White balance is another camera feature that compensates for lighting conditions. It adjusts the quality of all of the colors in the video by balancing the colors to achieve the truest wh ite possible for the available lighting conditions (T ungsten, fluorescent, natural) .

27 Digital zoom limit Digital zoom is an electronic camera f eature that increases the apparent size of images beyond the m agnification of the camera’ s optical lens. Because image information is not also incr eased, there is some loss of image resolution.
Legend User Manual 28 Tilt down limit T ilt down limit is a feature that sets a pr ogrammable stop for the camera at the lowest point that you want it to tilt down.
29 Actions menu Y ou can program a variety of custom actions for each dome. Y our custom actions include 127 preset positions, 16 ShadowT ours, 32 macros, and 120 a reas. Y ou can edit the title and descr iption of any action and you can reassign the positions of existing presets.
Legend User Manual 30 Summar y page (A c t i o n s|P r e s e t s|S u m m a r y) The summary page provides th e number and title of all 127 presets (1 through 127) that are available for the dome, whether or not they are programmed or titled. F igure 31.
31 Edit page (A c t i o n s|P r e s e t s|E d i t) The Edit page is where you program your presets. Y ou ca n select any preset number , whether previously programmed with a preset position or not.

33 Advanced page (A c t i o n s|P r e s e t s|A d v a n c e d) The Advanced page of th e Pr ese ts screen (under the Actions menu) allows you to change a camera’ s feature settings for the duration of individual presets.

35 Night mode For the duration of this preset, y ou can change the camera’ s Day/Night setting. Day/Night is a camera feature that switches th e camera mode from colo r (d ay) to monochrome (night) and removes th e IR cut filter , which increases the camera’ s sensitivity in low light.
Legend User Manual 36 White (white balance) For the dura tion of this preset, you can c hange the camera’ s White balance setting. White balance is a the feature that compensates for lighting conditions.
37 Exposure For the duration of this preset, you can change the camera’ s Exposur e setting. Exposur e is a feature that esta blishes what controls the light coming into the camera through the lens. Note: The Day/Night feature works only if the Exposure fe atur e is s et to Au to or Return to auto.

39 Title font weight The ShadowT our title will appear on sc reen in the font weight selected. Choices are as shown. Default is Bold. Block color Y ou can create a block (background) that of fsets the ShadowT our title from the video behind it. The block will appe ar on screen in the color selected.
Legend User Manual 40 Macros screen ( Actions | Macros ) Y ou can program 32 macr os p er dome. Macros are any pre set tour or programmed routin e. Each macro can contain up to 16 steps. The step, type, and type number optio ns will appear on all m acro programming screens.
41 Speed (with Preset or T our) The Speed option al lows you to set how fa st the camera will move to the preset step. Choices are Slow , Medium, Fas t , and Max. Tr a n s i t i o n (with Preset or T our) The T ransition option allows you to set how the video will be seen on the monitor screen during a preset step.

43 Areas screen ( Actions | Areas ) Areas are similar to privacy masks. Both hide areas designated as sensitive. But whereas privacy masks cover only a portion of the video displayed, are as hide all of it. Areas replace the video with a blue screen when the camera passes the center point of a ma rked area.

Legend User Manual 46 Alarms menu Y ou can program up to eight alarm inputs and two re lay outputs per dome. E a ch alarm input can call up (display) any preset, macro (preset tour or programmed routine), or ShadowT our . The eight alarms are numbered from 1 to 8.

Alarms are presented in numerical order with whatever titles have been assigned. Statuses are as follows: • On : Status shows as On if the contact for the alarm is in its active state.

Legend User Manual 50 Priority screen ( Alarms | Priority ) Y ou can assign a priority ranking to your alarms that is independent of their co nta ct numbers. The topmost alarm in the priority list is the highest priority regard less of the alarm’ s number , while the bottommost alarm is the lowest priority .
51 Display screen ( Alarms | Display ) The Display screen is where you define the appearance of the block of alarms and relays that displays on the monitor screen. T o display the alarm block at all times, you must set the Alarm box con tent to All status and the Alarm box duration to Indefinite .

Legend User Manual 58 Autopan speed The Autopan speed is a feature that sets how fast the camera move s while autopanning. Choices are Slow (default), Medium, and Fast. These settings are scaled according to the settin gs set for the slow , medium, and fast Macr o and autopan speed settings.
59 System menu Y ou can access diagnostics, status , and communication logs of your system’ s features through the System menu screens. Under Diagnostics , you can see what temperature yo u r dome is operating a t.

61 Logs screen (S y s t e m|L o g) The Logs screen provides a history o f the comman d, p rot ocol, and motor messages of the dome’ s most recent operations. Level 1 logs list the most restrictive and important messages, leve l 2 list those of medium restriction and importance, and level 3 lists thos e of least restriction and importance.

63 System operation Legend domes are controlled from at least one cont roller keypad. Refer to you r keypad’ s manual for instructions on operating the dome. Th is chapter lists some general guidelin es and restrictions for operating the Legend domes.
Legend User Manual 64 Calling up presets from a keypad Most keypads have a limited nu mber of p reset numb ers they can call. If you have a GE KTD-405 keypad with firmware version 1.2.09 or later , then you can call up all 127 preset numbers (1 throu gh 127) directly from the keypad.
65 T roubleshooting, maintenance, suppor t This section provides inform ation to help you diagnose and solve various problems that may arise while configuring or using you r GE Security produc t and offers technical supp ort co ntacts in case you need assistance.
